Idea: Creating a glint effect

Post by sillyanimate »

I wanted to make a glint effect, basically, it would look like an animated shine that goes over a basic picture, like a badge or coin.

My ideas so far:
-Using masking
-Using gradient with transparency for shine

The problem I have so far is giving the shine almost a blur/glow effect...

Any ideas?

I did that once. Create some white shape with soft edge effect. If that's not enough, blur the whole layer. Set to about 75% opacity, layer blendig mode to screen. If the blur still isn't soft enough, enlarge the layer. Remember to check the render.

Yes, use a mask.
