How do i use mesh with PNG ?

Post by Fog »

Hi there.

I saw some people on the internet using mesh with PNG file (So no vector), how does it works ?

I try to find a way but i wasn't able to find it.

All i want is to use a draw i made on photoshop or other software before, and for example, bend the arm without cuting it in different part. In a way to get the animation smoother. Did that is possible ?

For example, like "Spine" seems to do.

Thanks in advance. ^^

"bend the arm without cuting it in different part"

You must be referring to smooth joint option
Which was first introduced in Anime Studio Pro 10

This might help

If you use smooth joint option, note:
Any type of Image distortion in preview is always "different" or not as good as rendering so rendering is always the best way to preview image warping. The effect on points is the same as any point movement in preview. It looks the same in preview or rendering. Only image warping requires rendering to see the accurate result.
Don't forget! No one is perfect!

You don't need to always use the Smooth joint option.
Rigging images using bones is very easy.

In frame zero, import your image layers and put all them inside a bone layer (if you are importing a psd file, the software will automatically put all the image layers inside of a bone layer).
Then with the Bone layer selected, create the bones you want for your rig.
If you test your character with the Manipulate Bone tool, you will see the all the bones are bending all the images (and that is not good in most cases). So you need to tell the software which bones will bend which images.

To do that:

- Select the image layer
- Use the Select Bone tool and select the bones you want to use for that image
- Go to the menu Bone - Use selected bones for Flexi-binding
- Now your image will be bent only by the bones you selected

Repeat the process for all the images that need it.

After that, you can adjust the Strength of each Bone to obtain the bending you are looking for.
