how do I open a door?

Hi - I'm wondering how to animate a door. I want the door to open outwards, toward the viewer. I have no idea how to do it Thanks in advance ~ Sabina

you might also find this useful to help avoid some of the "over-thickening" of lines as the door edge swings towards camera:

to make the edge more realistic you can move the camera back and zoom in as in that post and also animate the edge thickness of the vertical.

if you also want to show the "back" of the door as it opens past straight-on to camera, then either use a switch or merely step change the colour at that point (if you use a switch the y-axis rotation that Nolan shows is at the switch, not vector, layer)

Here is a 3d door opening with 2d shapes for the walls and the room in the back. Do the same thing Nolan did but make the door 3d.
