What version of Anime Studio do you have?

The Pro version has "Actions" which you can use to save animations and reuse them. However, you can't put these actions into other character files. If you created a cool animation and wanted to use it another AS file of the same character there is no way to transfer.

----------

How are you creating the animations? Do you use vector motion, bone motion or both?
I have a set of menu scripts to save and load bone animation. If characters have the same bones these scripts can save and load any sequence of bone animation to a plain text file. You then load that animation file into a character bone layer. The script will also save some limited layer animation as well. The scripts can be configured to work with Anime Studio Debut as buttons.

I will put these up on my site tomorrow for download if you would like to try it. I had to redo them for 9.2. The only drawback is they do not save ANY vector animation, only bone animation. I do almost all my animation with bones only.

Here's the link to my scripts, but like I said, the save and load bone animation aren't up there yet. I should have them up sometime tomorrow afternoon EST.

In all series productions I've worked in they had a library of AS scenes with just one character in each doing a movement which was ready for re-use later. I had to import that scene, put the animation at the right point in time, and somehow switch from one version of the character to the other to make it work.

I updated my script downloads with the Save and Load bones animation script.

I will be uploading a tutorial video shortly.

The lack of exchange is a bit frustrating at times.
Even copying a vector shape from one AS instance to another...

My output is small but I try to discipline project structure along the lines slowtiger suggests - separate object, characters etc. so they can be imported.

---- thanks for the bone-save update Vern. :P
