I hate curves!

ASP 7

Say I hate curves. never want to see one.

I want to make shapes made up of NO curves ever, at any time. Straight edges everywhere... filled, non-filled, all that, but NO curves.

AS7 seemes designed to only make curves.

Should I not be able to draw a shape with no curves... you know... click, click, click, click, click on the original point, then bam. A shape with straight edges?

ASP changes every point I add to a spline interpolated curve.

Annoying beyone belief.

Can anyone tell me how to do this? I see no thing in the tutorial or manual (though given the size of the manual I could have missed it).

This should probably be tool #1, in tutorial #1.

Thanks for helping a noob.

For some strange reason I'm feeling you don't like curves..... :|

When you use the Add point tool, check the check box that says "Sharp Corners"

That's embarassing :) I totally didn't see it.

Now, experimenting with it, I find that I can select and deselect "sharp corners", and it seems to act somewhat like I hoped...

BUT, what if you have a point, (vertex?) and you want to change the type of point it is... to toggle the "sharp" property, so to speak?

It would seem that a right click on the point should provide a context menu for that... but no :(
I don't see any right click support for contextual actions... :/

Thank you!

Curvature tool (C). Click point and drag left and right.

...I remember when the simplest things in this program used to drive me crazy. But thanks to the help of people like you (and a lot of time in the program), it's all second nature now.

Couldn't help but reminisces when reading this user's frustration.

I'm finding that I am having to change tools far too often for simple editing tasks... I spend a lot of time in the tool bar or tool bar modifiers, instead of working directly on the shapes...

I work in 3D using Modo, and from a UI point of view, they really went out of their way to set up a fast work flow in terms of having he mouse over the work space/objects, and the left hand doing keyboard work for tools... and perhaps it is this way with ASP, but I'm just not dialed in yet.

I'm finding it frustrating a bit... knowing what mode I'm in, when it comes to modifying an object...

I do like the "C" button to modify a curve... that seems to be pretty nice.

I've decided to try Animate 2 from Toonboom... see how that workflow goes as well.

I've considered just staying in my 3D package to do 2D work... I know the South Park boys have done this... I think they are using Maya for their 2D work.

control+p converts points to sharp edges, control+m makes them curved again...
