Audacity lets you cut and alter sounds/music/voice etc. You can use it in post or upload your sound after you edited it right into AS for lip syncing.

Gimp can do a lot of stuff "Photo Shop" does like removing a background from an image that you want to import to AS.

Both are free and I use them daily.

Cool, thanks! Fortunately I already have Photoshop, so I'm all set there :)

There's so much for me to learn about animating still. I'm pretty overwhelmed. My goal is to make fun animated shorts on Youtube. One step at a time, right?
