Make parts of one layer go under and on another layer

I'm making a person who is really strong and i want part of his shoulder under the torso but i want his bicep to go on the torso. The arm is one layer (including the shoulder)
Is there a way to do this with out adding layers or should i just put the shoulder in a separate layer than the rest of the arm?

I don't think there's a way to do that without separating the different parts into separate layers.

thanks i guess i will just do the seperate layers. Just gotta do some copy and pasting
