How to create actions

Post by Toontoonz »

Open Actions window (go to top of screen Window > Actions) or Ctrl-K.

In the "Actions" window you will see:
----------Mainline----------- , highlighted in Blue
that is your main timeline for your entire animation.

Every action you create will have its own timeline, separate and different from the "Mainline".
Within the "Mainline" timeline you place your different "Actions".

To create a new action:
1. Go to the little yellow box in the upper left hand corner of the Action window. (If you hold your cursor over it - don´t click it -and any of the other symbol graphics at the top text will pop up describing what each symbol graphic means. In this instance it will say "New Action".)
Click on the Yellow Box/Page graphic symbol.

A new window will open: "Actions Name". You can change the name or leave it. Click Okay.

In the main Actions window a new graphic button will appear under "---Mainline---":
(Red Arrow Action 1).
When it is clicked on and highlighted in Blue that is the action (or timeline) you are working on.
Now create your Action 1 animation there.

Make sure the RED ARROW is in the Action timeline layer you are working with. You have to click, then double-click to go from one red arrow layer to another. Many a time I have highlighted the action layer thinking I was working in it, but was actually working in another. Look for the Red Arrow - that is the current timeline that is active.

Now go to Tutorial 5.6 and see how to implement the actions.
Works neat.
----------------------------

Tip on duplicating an action:
To duplicate an action, first create a new, empty action. Then, click
once on the old action to highlight it and use the Insert Copy button
in the actions window to copy the old action into the new one.

--------------

To delete an Action - simple - click on it, then click on the little garbage can in the top right of the Actions window.
