using switch layers for hands?

Post by boris »

I have a collection bitmap png hands that I wanna attach to the underarm of a character. What's the best way?: using switch layers so that you can choose which hand you want in time, or put them in the same bone directory as all the other bodyparts and use visibility to switch off and on hands?

I think the the good thing about this last option is that you can attach a bone to the hands so that you can rotate them. You CAN do this with switch layesr too, but is still a little bit of a hassle since you have to click on a different directory all the time.

Hope I made myself clear,
thank you,
Boris

Thats exactly what switch layers do, switch on and of visibility for the objects inside it. Seems a bit awkward to do this manually.
You can bind the whole switch layer to a hand bone in your rig.

oops. I wasn't aware of the fact that you could attach a bone from the main dir to a switch layer within.

Thanks anyway! :)
