Lost my Swatch er.. somethin'

Heya all ,

I just picked up the Anime Studio basic 5.6 , (as a download - unfortunately I have no physical manual , so excuse me now if this is easily answered somewhere else)

Anyway I hopped over to the tutorial and made it a couple steps in to find that I have no "Default.png" swatch -- as the tutorial pictured.

I know that some of the pictured features are "Pro only" ... but a simple default color swatch ? seriously ?

I've found "face", "Landscape" & "sky (day & night) " in the A.S. folder.

Is there a place to find this swatch and/or others I might be able to import or something (website , folder I overlooked , etc..)? I'd rather not have to fine tune every single color with a slider.

the first question is most important to me , but as an aside :

Is it possible to import other swatches from Photoshop or other drawing/photo programs or ms paint or whatnot ?

Thanks in advance for any info I can get !

Yeah, when I installed 5.6 (Pro) to a new location it was missing the default swatch. Luckily I could just copy it from my 5.5 install.

I'm not sure the legality of posting that default PNG here.

So I guess that means Smithmicro is nolonger providing 5.5 for download?

Anyway, yeah, you can use any PNG as a swatch. If nothing else do a screen capture of your favorite from another program and save it as '.Default.png'. As far as I know that works in AS standard.

OK well thanks for the input , maybe I will go steal some swatches somewhere hehe

Seriously I really like this program , but even MSPaint has a basic color palate* ... :)

(I just realized I had color on the roof of my mouth *palette)

Hey! I just realized that when your cursor rolls over the swatch area of the styles palette it becomes a "colour picker". Many members (myself included) have have been asking for a colour picker in the main drawing window and it looks like the code to do it is right there in the program.
Vern and Genete and synthsin 75 and all you other clever coders, can't you somehow cut and paste and work your magic on the code and turn it into a tool script.

There's no scripting access to that feature. :(

And thanks for considering me a scripter, even though I haven't really finished anything yet.

There are some cool free color pickers that would work with AS. It allows you to pick or "create" colors and then paste them into a style. Not as good as having it built in, but you can create palettes in a good color picker to use with AS.

Generally I create a palette in photoshop and use it as a custom palette image. I then have all my colors readily available and know they are all the same.

Use saved styles as much as possible to speed up "global" color changes later.

Te Select Shape tool can also act as a color picker. If you have a fill or outline shape selected, then with the Select Shape tool, Alt+click on a different shape to "pick" that shape's color and apply it to the selected shape.

Or, Alt+Ctrl+click on a shape to "push" the selected shape's color onto that other shape.

This method actually picks more than color - it also applies line settings, fill styles, etc. Basically, it does the same thing as the Copy/Paste buttons in te Style palette with just a single mouse click.
