The License agreement that I include in my products was borrowed from someone else and I just changed the relevant names etc.

Hi D.K. this matter of the brick wall is interesting and your example is great.

My use of a brick wall is completely different, I have a bitmap photo of a brick wall (I got it from somewhere) the I use the block as one would with individual bricks to create a wall. If I need a window in the wall I then take that wall into Gimp and cut out of it the size of the window. Back in AS I place the window.

It works Great.

DK wrote:Great idea synthsin75. Even if it was a youtube link it would definately help sell products.

and you should give the creator of such a file a (small) fee - since it helps selling your products.
I'm not thinking of selling, but why not pay people for the afford … seeing what beautiful works people create with your content - mostly far better than the poor examples on CS.

DK wrote:Just what is needed right now. I have noticed a huge drop in sales in the last quarter and I have sold nothing at all for at least a month. There are several new AS products of mine that have been uploaded for months and still have not sold one copy. :(

I only can speak for myself - and for me it's the prize 'though I pay in Euros.
But I have approximately 30$/month pocket money (Germany is going down and as far as I know almost any western country incl. US) on the other hand lots of time (am a pensioneer). So I deceide: what time does it take to make something by myself (for I'm no cartoonist at all and so it'll take a looong time) or is it cheaper (and therefore still time saving) to buy content?

For example: I bought the LOOPY FIREPLACE and was shocked about what I got for my bread! Sorry, but 6 bucks for that is TOOO much! If it was done for 1 person - aright; but a company is selling to nnn people the same product - and for that reason to me it doesn't seem fair. No wonder about all the software robbery, no matter if it's music, films or … content. I'm a writer and musician and actually should damn those people - just can't; only try to keep myself clean from stealing.

But back to LOOPY FIREPLACE: I've learned how to do it - and that'll save me money for the future (and only that thought calmed me down).
I hope you understand that I not at all want to blame you - but you wanted to know the reasons why CP won't sell enough; I guess the above mentioned is one.

And just before I saw the mail of wena and the "brick wall" - 11$!!!
How come you ask why CP makes no money?

Hi MustJee.

I agree with you totally but may I add.... the products you refer to are extremely old products that were made for AS 5.6 in the days when no one had any ideas of what to charge or what to include in a 2D AS package. I have always been a flag waver for Smith Micro to put guidelines in place for AS content. Just read my previous posts in this thread. All my old products have the old AS 5.6 logo on them which means they are compatible for that software even though they will still work in new releases, if you see the old logo you will be buying an old product from me.

Recently CP sent out a letter to all sellers that any old products that are not selling for a given amount of time (approx 12 months) will be automatically deleted from CP.

I think we need a bit of a reality check here. Normally I don't discuss how much I make but in this case I will just to make a point.

Loopy Fireplace - total sales for me since year2009 = 86 USdollars
Loopy Brick Walls - total slaes for me since year 2009 = 55.96 USdollars

You know how long it takes to make a CP product and upload it? 2-3 days
and for 5 dollars (which is the correct price Loopy Fireplace sells for) I have shown you how to make your own.

I think I am the cow that has been milked here mate ;)

Cheers

Hi D.K.,

hadn't red your mail yet and since it gives me a satisfieing answer I'm fine.

All I can say:

DK wrote:Loopy Fireplace - total sales for me since year2009 = 86 USdollars
Loopy Brick Walls - total slaes for me since year 2009 = 55.96 USdollars

= 142 $.
I'd be happy if I could earn this for a 2-3 days job
But I understand and as I (and you) said: I learned.

----------

Since I wrote the following before reading your mail and there's also some new complaints - I post the whole. Maybe it even is a help to get you CP standards fixed.

Today I had to go to CP for some reasons. There I found:

Obamma (Obamma is not my spelling I just copy & paste; but anyway: why then not Obommer - but that's another story - coming soon  ) and Johnn Boehn are fully rigged characters designed with in Anime Studio Pro 8! We used Anime Studio Pro 8 patch layers for better quality. They are compatible with both Anime studio 8 debut and Anime studio 8 Pro versions. The come with their front views.

For $7.99 - well that seems just about ok but … only front views?

But actually I think the price to high since part of the pack is sold in another pack. What I mean is: people create content and sell it, at the same time they rip it apart and sell the parts in others packs again = creating 1 time gives an endless amount of different packs; that's why to me MOST of the content is too expensive. PARKERx87 seems to be specialist in this … just look at his BG: Wide Field, BG: Village, BG: Field and BG: Farm. And since I know how he works … I'll better keep my mouth shut.
All there's left to say is that his creations are nice and I'd be proud if I could do the same :?
And I like - beside the above mentioned - his way of explaining!

I just looked at Paolo SCs works: they cost just a bit of PARKERs having a lot more content (if I can trust the description; just see is "Red Knight Ryan and Blue Knight Charles": Includes front, side, and back view, fully rigged, switch layers for eyes mouth [I only miss a 3/4 view]). And that is worth $8.69!

Beside the prices (won't talk about it anymore - for granted):

in the content preview when I want something to get on my wishlist I can't get to OK button 'cause the "Wish List UpDate" window runs outa the screen before I hardly can click on the continue button since the win opens too fast.
I complained twice about it at CP, gave 'em the name of the file - and all they did is asking me for the path. Doan they even know their own content?! I guess they're just too lazy!

Some examples
http://www.contentparadise.com/productD ... x?id=19541
http://www.contentparadise.com/productD ... x?id=17423

Maybe the prob is on my side but how can I find out when nobody tells me that on his PC/Mac everything looks fine?

Today I watched some tutorials of PARKERx87 - ok, he seems to be Spanish and that's fine with me staying twice a year on Mallorca (as often as I get invited actually - it's free). But if he wastes time in searching words to explain - why doesn't he make a concept BEFORE, how can he dare call himself a teacher? I sound angry? I am! I followed the link he gave - and ended up with a 10$ product … can't he say that right away?!?
And on YouTube PARKERx87 talks about free anmes and when I get there … side closed.

I surely and badly understand that people want to make money - but first there's to be sufficient content, service, help etc.

All the people here are talking about is selling - but with such prices and companies that doan know their own content not even helping to get mistakes right outa the site … sorry, gimme just ONE GOOD reason to buy!

Sorry, but this never happened to me with any other company.

Still I like the way that you take my act of expressing displeasure in a  way …

MustJee

P.S.: thanx for doing this side since CP for me is not the right place when I got probs or - hummm, hummm - complaints …

Well - you don't have to buy it, if it stinks.

Personally I find any film with something selfmade much better than anything bought from CP. Be it a selfmade photo, a scanned in drawing, or just a collage of some google image search results - everything is better than CP.

Yes....that would be nice to make for three days work but you would have to wait three years to be paid... :)

It's healthy to complain and that is what we need. It's people like you that make the sellers set improved standards so don't stop.

Please feel free to write more product reviews in this thread.

Cheers

As a non-commercial hobby user...

A centralized file sharing site would be nice. I take digital photos for backgrounds. (technique pioneered by Ralph Bakshi) I would upload/share (without charge) if there was a place where like minded people could post their creations.

If you process those pictures with some of the artistic effects in GIMP or PAINT.NET you can get very interesting background scenes. Some before/after reduced size samples:

Been a while since anyone posted on this thread, so I just thought I'd add my 2 cents......

DK, - great content. I wish I was as good as you! Having spent about 6 weeks working on a project, I appreciate the time and effort that goes into making these things. 2-3 days per product = about 40-48 hours of work. That means $3.55 an hour for a professional quality artist to produce a producty which you can use in any way you need. Sounds like a bargain to me! Seriously, do you take requests?

MustJee, - Simple rule, if you feel you have received good value, buy some more, if not, don't. At $3.55 an hour, no one can claim that DK is overcharging anyone. Like you said, it would take you a looong time to do and the results probably wouldn't look as good. Instead you have a professional looking product. I guess it depends on what you are going to do with your animation. If you want thousands of people to watch your video, but can't draw them yourself, it's money well spent.

My Account [Submit a seller application] only returns the following page.
Content Paradise Seller Application Form

Thank you for your interest in becoming a seller at Content Paradise. We strive to support new artists and provide opportunities for them to offer their work to the community, while also maintaining a high level of quality in our store.

Unfortunately, Content Paradise is not accepting new sellers at this time.

Is every new seller being refused?
Do I need to purchase before I’m accepted?

maintaining a high level of quality

It sounds like there judging quality even before I’ve had the opportunity to submit any content..
Is there some way I can prove I have something of value and QUALITY to submit?

Frustrated :(

Many Thanks

Hi GoBoks.
Thanks for the kind words. You're right. It takes sometimes 2-3 days to create a product. You may have noticed I have not done any for a while and this is the main reason. I actually created a couple that did'nt sell at all so these things also have to be factored in.
SteTooned, I can't say that Content Paradise are actively refusing products, from what I understood when i spoke to them they were not accepting any product sellers till they had overhauled the site. It might pay to ask them directly via email.

Cheers

I can see two to three days at completing a product. I spend that much time trying to make a product that is worth buying and your products, DK, are well done and well worth it. When you look at some of the sites, like DAZ, the products are kept to a particular standard to ensure that customers come and they stay in business. I like buying from DAZ over most other venders because I recognized the quality and the fair prices. It appears to me that CP sees this also and is trying to remove some of the excess so customers can get to the real quality products that sell. If my product doesn't sell then it should be removed. At the moment, I hope to make more products that I hope to fit the needs of the consumers. The more I make, the more I hope to sell and make a better income from, though probably not much from what I can see. The more I create the better, I feel, my creations become.
