Add shading to a character/pbject, and animate it as a whole

Post by NarbeVoguel »

First of all, hello everyone. I've been trying to learn to animate stuff on my own with Anime studio, but I've been drawing blanks regarding certain matters.

So I've been practicing stuff such as head turns and the like, but only with solid single coloring, but I have no idea how to add shading to it and animate it all

So see, for example, I drew this guy here, and let's say, I want to animate him moving his head or whatever, how do I do that with that shading? Like, add that shading and animate it all?

Thanks in advance and sorry for all the trouble

Neat character. The shading will add significant work for you, but it might be worth it.

Here's a thread on this topic at the other forum: Shading in AS?

Thanks for the reply.

I already know how to ad some basic shading in AS using masks, like this for example (the first guy I posted I did in flash).

Thing is, I don't know how to animate it with that shading, like, would I have to go and edit it on the timeline, per frame, as the shape moves and stuff? Or can I animate it as a whole using a bone or something without having to go through frames that much? And if so, how? That hair was made using more than one layer, so it's getting kind of confusing for me.

I visited the link you posted, and I'm kind of still drawing a blank here, so my apologies... D=
