Yeah , this is getting better and better, Wes, Nice!
So I like what is going on in the display with the brushes. The opacity of the brush is transferred into the transparency, but the render merges that opacity.
This is exactly like the old/new standard brush transparency used to work, now with the additional of the merge transparency checkbox there is an option to flatten or retain that opacity info in the render to match display.

Is there any chance of rolling that concept into your script?
That way the movement in the brush will be translated into the opacity which would look awesome.
With the ability to exaggerate any opacity to pressure/brush we could do some AMAZING things!

I must be slow, Chucky. I'm not following what you're saying at all.

Ha, clearly you are not slow, I probably didn't explain.
Can you see the difference in the brush display and render?
The render has alpha merged ( brush) merged ( which looks flat), the display multiplies the brush's alpha making it more textural ( and sexy).

Now use a normal brush with merge alpha on and off and you will see the difference.

There's no scripting access to get under the hood of the renderer, so I can't see any way to change that.

My priorities for this tool are, in order:
  • Improve performance (Done)
  • Add selected points color editor (that preserves the opacity) (Done)
  • Perhaps see about updating the color from a saved style with an update button (Done)
So changes to saved styles can be easily applied to colored point strokes.
Bonus: Hold shift to select shapes for changing point color or updating colored points by shape's style, using the Update button. (Done)
  • Add strength setting
  • Add custom range setting

Let me know if you guys find any major issues.

Cool Wes,
that's awesome I'' see if I can sneak a look today.
Hey I'm about to go dark for a couple of days as I'm moving to Tasmania.
See you when the mud dries,

Hey,
Wow moving state was a real distraction, I'd forgotten almost all about this... plus I'm not getting notifications about posts in Lost Marble any more.
Also my computer had a meltdown and had to rebuild.
I must say that Moho survives better than any other apps I have, all the custom stuff lives on the other drive, so while I lost HEAPS of brushes and the rest from other apps, Moho stayed completely safe , they made a great system there.

So anyway Wes! I was wondering if there where any more advances with this?
I just though I reawaken this topic for anyone who might have missed it too.

Nah, when there's a lack of response, I move on to other things. But after I finish a few things on the burner, remind me of this again.

If I'd have come up with an easy way to do the strength and range, I would have. Those may take some thought.
