No Imago, I agree with the original poster.
I want a line tool which creates lines in advance, thankyou very much.
I want to start AS up and the line or lines are already there.

I knew you were going to say that.
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

You can always use the add point tool to make the line and adjust the line width to what you want.
Sorry for bad animation

I think that there is an option to create sharp corners (polylines) instead of smooth curves by default.

I think the poster meant an open shape, not just two connected points.

Like this:Image
Not this:Image
Which is what you'd get with the Add Point tool since it only creates a shape if you "close" the line.

I know this is possible by using the Add Point tool then filling it and changing the line thickness, but an "Automatic fill without closed loop" tool would be useful, and probably easy to write.

I think it would create a lot of confusion. Each time you add a point to extend a line, it would fill the line again, so you would obtain as many fills as points you add.
I think right now it's very logical. As many tools in AS, you can find it weird at first (because AS doesn't use the Illustrator/Freehand/Coreldraw vectorial paradigm), but once you understand it, fill behavior get more sense, in my opinion.

it literally takes seconds to create astroke shape while drawing. As I draw my line and I'm ready to create the stroke shape, I just press the tab key then press U and hit space. Done.

Is it possible that the original request is for "auto stroke" on the add point tool? I often wondered why that wasn't in there.

but, vern, how the tool could know in which moment you finished to add points to decide fill? I think it should be filling the line each time you add a single point, and that doesn't sound too exciting. Other option is that each time you add a point it erase the current fill and fill the entire line again. That doesn't sound good either.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see another way.
