I got into animation in an early age, around 13, so there we're no real school back then to learn animation, not in my part of the world at least, so I learned on my own.

That got me to teach at some point, at university then in a private school, I sort of trained those who eventually replaced me, as they had degrees, which I did not, was weird really since they got those degrees with me as their teacher!

As far as school goes, there are a few good ones in Canada now.

I can only go on stuff I see from students on the web, but Ringling College in the States and Gobelins in Paris (France!) always seem to have excellent graduatioin films.
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

vancouver film school.... always enjoy their grad films...course they are in Can-ad-ia...

I think it probably totally depends on what part of animation you want to focus on.

Canadia, where is that? :)

True though, great school, and Canadia is part of the Commonwealth, so screw the US! ;)

Mon ami, you know I love Canada, Its like the best bits of america, the UK and Europe all mushed together into a glorious Hamburger-fish'n'chips-croissant kind of meal and if you get bored of being interesting and french-canadian you can always become english-canadian...pretty awesome.

I know it's another online school but Animation Mentor has a great reputation.

A fair number of animators at our place got jobs after completing that course.

loads of animators floating around 11sec club who are studying that they seem very 3d orientated tho..not a bad thing, I guess its what the market wants.

here's a thought: what do you expect to get out of going to school for animation? (which should also be considered when choosing where to go)?
