Nice looking file. OK, so maybe not "cheating". :) :)

But a "real artist" is supposed to be able to do figure drawing in all sorts of poses. Me, I'm no real artist, so I cheat whenever possible.

How about a URL so we can see them? (You gave us a local file path on your computer)

Walk cycle from any angle - by cheating

I was trying to work out a walk cycle in 3/4 view, when it suddenly occurred to me. I still have Poser 4 laying around from long ago, so I built a Poser "bones only" figure with the same proportions as my 2D toon character, and worked out the walk cycle in Poser. Now I can set my view angl...

If you are using standard AS, not PRO, you have a maximum of 3000 frames per file. Set the end frame to any number less than 3000.

Setting the ending frame to 0 in the standard version gives you NO frames of animation.

You didn't say what system. If you are using Windows then Audacity is a good freeware audio program: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

In any simple text editor Line one is: MohoSwitch1 the rest of the lines are frame number, one space, switch layer name. For example, a dat file generated by Papagayo looks like this: MohoSwitch1 370 etc 371 E 388 WQ 390 AI 393 etc 397 U 399 etc 402 U 405 AI 408 etc 411 rest 614 rest 615 O and so on...

Kadoogan,

Thanks for that link to karmatoons. I can see that my biggest problem is that I'm thinking about the character drawings in 2-dimensional terms. I need to visualize the characters as constructed of 3-dimensional shapes to draw them more fluidly.

Ah, so much stuff to learn.

Kadoogan, Thanks for taking the time to write that list of observations. I'm going to print it out and use it as reference to go back and work some more on the animation. Those are good points to keep in mind for future animations as well. Re: hands, I'm having trouble learning how to make hands loo...

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. It took 6 days from start to finish. As for masking, I had to depend on HeyVern to show me how. :)

Re: Hooray

Acutally they do but they don't make a good point of pointing it out, (it is in parenthesis underneath the title once you view a tutorial) which is what I just figuired out and turns out that the base version of this program is almost useless compared to the PRO version. But thanks for the input an...

Those features are in the PRO version only. The tutorials don't bother to mention that.

I like your graphic. Finally I see what you've been talking about with black and white. Without seeing it in action it just didn't make any sense to me. For the record, I've been a programmer since 1962 and I've done lot's of graphics programming with AND, OR, XOR, bit masks, so you'd think I'd get ...
