Animated 3D Filmmaking (a crash course)
I gave a talk last Friday where I squeezed an introduction to 3D and a few semesters of film school into 30 minutes. There's a lot of Anime Studio talk in there as well. Thought you might enjoy.

Re: Please recommend some interesting hand-drawn rotoscoping
Thanks for the excellent suggestions, dm!
FWIW, I'm a Tom Waits fan and had no idea that the "Tom Waits for No One" video existed -- interesting!

Please recommend some interesting hand-drawn rotoscoping...
Besides A-Ha's music videos and the Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds section of Yellow Submarine, what are some really cool examples of hand-drawn rotoscoping? The more surreal, the better. (Computer-assisted rotoscoping like Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly doesn't count. I'm looking for the hand-draw...

Thanks, Jez. I checked out your site as well. I had no idea there was such a comprehensive Anime Studio tutorial site. When I've got some down time, I will spend some time checking out those tutorials. Bookmarked!jezjones29 wrote:Nice animation and I like the music too.

3D Anime Studio music video w/ construction paper (Tornado)
I just completed this 3D music video using Anime Studio. It was made with construction paper, a pen knife, and acrylic paint on paper.
I wrote and performed the song and had some fellow musicians join in on the backing vocals. Enjoy!

Re: Stuck with choppy 3D model textures
Your rotation on the stars is not equal to 360 degrees. At -50 on that one layer, it will need to be -410 at the end. Also you need to copy frame 0 and paste it on frame 1. Hi sbtamu -- Thanks for the response, but neither of those things should make a difference. I never intended to rotate exactly...

Re: Stuck with choppy 3D model textures
Not sure of the problem, but are you using the 7.1 upgrade? Also, how are you rotating the cylinder? If the keys are cycling, maybe the "cycle to" frame number is wrong? :?: Hi neeters_guy -- No, I'm just using the regular version 7 without the patch. There's just one key that does the ro...

Stuck with choppy 3D model textures
I'm using AS7 and have possibly discovered a bug. Or at least, I'm seeing something strange that I can't seem to work around. Please watch this clip, especially starting around the 0:17 mark: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-wRt7Sxl1c&feature=relmfu (If you don't have 3D glasses, click on the &q...

Make your own animated 3D music videos (with Anime Studio)
I was asked to give a presentation about my 3D music video movie this past weekend at 3D Stereoscopic Weekend ( http://www.3dweekend.com ).
I talk a lot about Anime Studio and 3D, and how I worked around some of Anime Studio's limitations. Thought you might enjoy it.

Thanks for the kind words, sbtamu, neeters_guy, and DubiousDrewski! After hearing your genre of music, it makes think the animation style would fit even better in a sort of low tech Schoolhouse Rock kind of style. Oooo... Schoolhouse Rock! I totally forgot about that cartoon! The goal is to adopt a ...
