Having experience in Flash, FreeHand, Illustrator, AS, Photoshop, Painter, and Mirage, I feel qualified to say: don't blame the tool. A vector program is better for constructing images, a bitmap program is better for painting images. Every time a vector program borrows tool concepts from a bitmap pr...

What vern says. Drawing in AS now is the fastest for me of all vector programs I use. Even better: the result is instantly animateable. If you go for a small SWF for web distribution, there are two ways to go. One is vector, the other is video. Don't mix them up. FLV (Flash's flavour of video) gets ...

Seems I didn't write clearly enough. OK, try again ... Your problem appears to be so prominent only because the leaves of your tree actually are just one big shape with one colour. Try to split up the crown into four or five shapes, each with its own outline, nicely overlapping each other, and colou...

My best example in defense of simple lip sync are The Muppets. Hey, they can just open and close their mouths, right? And look how lively they are! So how do they do it? It's definitely not the soft interpolation or the accuracy of the phonemes which delivers the emotion ... Every animator should sp...

You may find useful info in here: viewtopic.php?t=7967. I can't really recommend to create stuff in Flash and bring it into AS.

It is rather a question of overall animation style. All good animation books urge you to not deliver your story through dialogue but through means of acting and body language. A good old Disney feature would be understandable even with all sound turned off. In the meantime, we've been fed a diet of ...

OK, your style of animation is probably quite different from mine. I animate for money, so characters and setup must be as simple as possible, and there's no need for elaborate mouth movement (no time and no money as well ...) In my current project about 99% of all scenes can be done with just 10 mo...

Although import of AI files is generally possible, I don't recommend it because too much stuff gets fucked up during that process. This is becaue AS and AI use different kinds ob bezier curves which don't translate smoothly into another, besides other issues. File size/number of points seems to be a...
