Lightwave has a joint bulge control which bulges points closer to the joint away from the joint when it bends, thus controlling the thickness of the bulge. It's scalable so you can increase or decrease it to suit.

Some things I've been thinking about since I started using AS heavily for a recent project. Some little, some big. * More complete Layer switch/morphing. Mixing of layers and/or the ability to morph nested switch layers as long as they have the same topology. Useful for being able to blink at the sa...

Because I like to morph switch layers, I have the following structure

Mouth
>Side_OOH
>Side_MMM
>Side_AAH
>Front_OOH
>Front_MMM
>Front_AAH
Head
>Side
>Front

Then as I go from a head front to a head side, I'll go from a front phoneme to a side phoneme. Works pretty well.

Yeah, the FA tools should be the standard way they work, they're much quicker to use. There are still tools which don't have FA equivalents though, so it'd be nice to bring them up to that level in the standard package too.

Noisy will wobble your bones values (say if you set the rotation to noisy, it'll wiggle them about a bit). Amplitude sets how wiggly they are, and scale will set how slow the wiggle is.

I'd been looking for something like the F5 preview too. This should be in the menus, so you know it's at least available, even if you press f5 all the time :)

To be honest since I got the FA tools replacing the AS own tools, drawing has become a doddle. I hate bsplines, and parallel bsplines to give line width even more. Just being able to draw out a line, then adjust the line width is so easy in AS, I prefer doing illustrator style things in it to other ...

That's good to hear Vern. Speaking as someone who knows a bit about the software development process, it can take a while if you're the only guy on a project getting something done. The 5.6 update was a welcome one, but since the 'Suggestions for 6' thread was over 18 months old I was uncertain as t...

Speaking as someone who visits this forum only once or twice every couple of weeks, it is kind of hard to keep up with the scripts. What might be more helpful is if AS had a website devoted to a plugin data base, like flay.com is for Lightwave, or Highend3d.com is for maya and max and xsi. I'd host ...

Yeah, and option would be good. I'm a scripter so it's always handy to have the ascii file, but most of the time I don't need that, so a .anmz file format would be good. Being zipped doesn't make it proprietary, just smaller :)

V 6 still being developed?

Hiya,

This is a bit of an impertinent question, but the top ten feature list for AS 6 was started in april 2007, and now it's heading towards 2009, so is there any idea if this is still being done? I know 5.6 came out a few months ago, but I was hoping for news of a bit more forward progress.

Also something would be good is autozipping of anme files. At the moment .anme files can quickly grow to megabytes in size. However, if you zip them up, they crunch down to tiny sizes. It would be awesome if AS did this automatically, packing on save, and unpacking on load, so it would save a lot of...

Further to this, a 'Morph mixer' layer would be well useful for those of us who use interpolated switches. Basically what I mean is for you have one vector layer which has point animation on several frames, moving parts or all of the shapes, so 'MMM' on one frame, 'OOH' on another, Head Left on anot...
