To bind anything to any bone, it has to be in that bone layer. Most likely your best bet is to have a single bone layer for the whole character, containing all the bones you need. Then make sure the bones have the right parent child (no pun intended) relationship. Edit: are you using the bones to wa...

A book that I loved as a kid was "The Animated Raggedy Ann and Andy"; this was a long time ago, so I don't know how it stacks up against other books about animation, but it was really neat for my young, impressionable mind to see the behind-the-scenes process laid out like that. Lots of in...

Nobudget: offtopic as this is, I've just found that there is a forum on Bakshi's website, apparently the same PHPBB software as this (same smileys, same familiar shade of blue, etc), and Ralph himself is on there answering fan questions.

Pretty sure he meant it as a joke that time.

As for "merge down", why not just render what you have so far and then import it as an image layer? You can always save as PNG, which is lossless and has an alpha channel. If you go this route I'd render it sort of large just to preserve detail.

I don't recognize that name. But I am familiar with Ralph Bakshi. :)

(You're not alone; Google has plenty for either spelling.)

Storyboarding

Anyone have any particular software they like to use to assist with storyboarding? Or just use pen and paper?

Any thoughts/insights appreciated.

I did Atkins in the year before it exploded. Technically, you do it for life but -- #1, apart from the initial phase it's not radical at all, and #2, my metabolism is such that I don't even need to stick to the lenient latter-phase stuff very closesly. Mostly I try to avoid sugar and white bread now...

I just did an impromptu sales pitch/demo!

I was visiting a small, local animation studio today as part of an attempt to network and ultimately get work somewhere. (I'm terrible at networking; I've taken seminars on it recently, but just can't bring myself to stick to the "proven" methods when conversing with live humans.) In the c...

Another thing to keep in mind is, sometimes it's not worth selling what you love, even if it is for a lot of money. If you're running a company that you really enjoy and have pride in, that would have to be the best experience in the world; whereas it might suck to have a bunch of cash in the bank b...

Not sure exactly what image comes to your mind when I say "moving" -- it can be a subtle thing, not necessarily an "Art Thing". I've seen episodes of The Simpsons that were what I'd call "moving", like when Homer finds his long lost mother who is on the run from the law...

I don't think Macromedia would want to acquire it. All the additional features that Moho provides are slow to render, therefore not in line with Flash's purpose. And it's not really competition for them either, I don't think, because it's too much of a different thing. (Who the hell independently, v...

I don't mean to "blame 3D" ... I'm just going on my impression so far. I tend to be more dazzled than moved, which is still better than being neither, I suppose. I want to see more in 2D using computers to evoke different media like pencil strokes, watercolor, charcoal, etc. -- stuff that ...
