I should clarify because somewhere else (I think you know where) someone said this behavior happens with an undocked pallet -- my timeline is indeed undocked but I have been using it this way since version 6 and neither 6.x nor 7.x exhibited this behavior.

Timeline retains focus?
Mike, Please tell me this isn't so -- in version 8 the timeline now retains focus when you move the arrow. This means you need to first click back into the main window before it will respond to movement on any layer (bone, vector, switch). This is a deal-breaker for me -- if this cannot be readjuste...

Untill then anyone want to share any new details or opinions They may have if they were lucky enough to not be 10 minutes late and locked out? Based on the Webinar I am planning on upgrading on Day One. While that probably doesn't mean a lot to you, I can say that based on my history it is a ...

My own AS Halloween Entries
For the Fox contest:
I have absolutely no expectations about winning but it does show AS well, I think.

While you can set (and correctly render) transparency at the group level, it does not display properly even when transparency is checked in Display Quality, effectively making this display feature useless for any character rig (what should happen is that all vector layers should show the same transp...

Vern, For your site (and, actually, for script writers everywhere) I like Selgin's example screen so much I think this should be done for any tool type script. IOW, if someone posts a script here (or on your site) the accompanying screen shot showing how it looks should also be there. It's sooooo mu...

You just drop that other character right into the middle of the first character's bone group. They can nest properly - about the only thing you need to do is make sure that second character is away from any bones in the first (on frame 0). I generally put a controller bone for that second character,...

One thing for sure -- it still doesn't import anything other than AI 8 (or below) version files. I tried it with an AI 8 file (nothing too complicated, just a simple hard hat) and it ruined it -- flattened it out completely so it was just one line. As a general rule, I would NOT rely upon AS to corr...

Vern, One thing that should be possible is to tell the server folks that ANME/MOHO is an ascii file. I'm not at the machine that has all that info right now, but in essence you are saying this is just another alias for a .TXT (which are downloadable on most servers since it's a harmless format). Tha...

As you say, the split curve tool works in exactly this fashion. However, it works by adding a point precisely in the middle of two points. If this is all that is desired then making a tool that does this on selected points should be easy. But trying to add a point anywhere between two may be nigh im...

Right, it should work that way. But, as I said, I think you can eat your cake and have it as well. It should be possible (and fairly easy) to script a solution where your rig is both motion controlled AND IK controlled. All that has to be done is turn off the parent/child info (and then turn it back...

D'oh! I should have saved it in 5.6 format -- completely forgot it might not open in the older version. Okay, I've updated that link and now that zip file includes both the 6.0 as well as the 5.6 version (note to self: any more examples posted anywhere need to include BOTH 5.6 and 6.0 versions where...
