But when Windows software now runs on Mac WITHIN OSX (using Parallels for example), what IS the incentive to write a Mac version for developers? Also, I read one interview once where a developer said something like, "What's the point of writing natively for Mac? If you're a success Apple will j...

AS 6 is most definitely NOT "AS 5.7 with a jazzed up interface". :D Sorry, I meant that in the context of being a Toonboom killer. I'm sure ASP6 feels like a big step forward for existing ASP users, but I'm not seeing any huge features announced that are going to turn heads for users of o...

So how many of these suggestions have actually made it to version 6?

And shame on you Vern for making "wishes" you knew would come true!!! :D

No OS war thread is complete without the obligatory Raven comic.

:D

PS bizarrely I think the writer of this strip is now a Mac fanboi...

I hear what you're saying, Mike, and looking at the other threads, it does seem like ASP6 is more ASP5.7 with a jazzed-up interface, BUT we don't know the entire PRO feature set yet, so part of me lives in hope. Anyway, the only other information I could get about the Toonboom killer is that it IS a...

ASP6: the Annecy "Toonboom killer" I hear about?

I was IMing with a friend who works for an animation company, and he said that he was going to Annecy this year to see "the demo of the Toonboom-killer." He's been told by his bosses to check it out. He wouldn't say much more than that, except it's a new product release that will wipe the ...

Thanks heyvern for getting some clarification, hopefully that will put a stop to these silly rumors. Although I suspect that the speculation may have been a well-intended attempt to goad Lost Marble into announcing something. Unfortunately, any prospective customers (especially professionals) visiti...

Oooh, harsh... :D

To be fair, though, isn't that more Smith Micro's fault than Mike Clifton's? i.e. it's a marketing failure rather than a development failure.

So they now have 11 pieces of software? Their plan must be to hook people on the $99 version, then when people need more functions, they pay to upgrade to the $199 version, and so on until the customer has bought all 11 versions and paid much more than the most expensive version would cost in the f...

To put this in an historical perspective, the program's creator has never talked about new versions until they were very close to release, and after his last two bouts of "silence" we had 1) the e-frontier deal, and 2) version 5.6. So there is no reason to be disenchanted with the current ...

I completely agree. I love AS and try to use it wherever I can.

I just wish the ToonBoom and Flash users would take AS a bit more seriously, I'm tired of them looking down on us. :(

But who cares what they think, GO MO HO! GO MO HO! :D

I have a friend who's a "Flash Fan" and he just sent me this link, showing the CS4 bones working in an "AS-wannabe" way (check the second clip). http://coldhardflash.com/2008/09/bone-up-on-the-brand-new-flash-cs4.html Looks a bit limited to me. Is this just a simple example, or c...

The400th, you misread me there. I never asked for anyone to make a tutorial. You're right, I meant to write "produce" but somehow that got turned into "make" on its way from my brain to my fingers. Sorry about that. My point was that the burden of proof shouldn't be placed on dm...

See -- you're really an ass. You say "we'd better stop here" and, of course, you don't. That's a pretty low trick, and not one that anyone with an ounce of brains wouldn't see through. But, of course, we'd measure your brain in much smaller units. As witnessed by the obviously idiotic &qu...
