Thanks for the comments. Mostly it's just onion skinned and one pass through using a Wacom to draw it in. Occasionally I'd use a guide layer to give me an idea of the layout (first and last frame, that sort of thing). But I didn't do much in the way of clean up. I did tweak the timing a bit as I wen...

My New Doodling website

http://www.galaxy12.com/latenight/ For the past several years I've been working myself up to work on that "one big project." Each time I'd over extend myself, get frustrated and give up. I knew that I can do it and I had it in me to be the next Doug McCracken and create that animated show ...

Yeah, there were a bunch of rumors floating around the net earlier this year. Mostly including blending modes, filters, multiple libraries, and stuff for mobile phones. With the exception of the mobile phone stuff, nothing I wouldn't use After Effects for anyway. But then again I'm not much interest...

And no, I doubt your incoherent, insulting ramblings are going to provoke anyone into animating something for you. Hmmm... nutty slashes, self conscious misspellings and bizarro punctation. That takes some real effort. It's as if he was trying to hide something... I stand by my theory. :P You know,...

I think zlimbot is actually LM's alter-ego, so he can discreetly goad people on the board. Ha! I knew I shouldn't have gotten involved with this one. Seems like every three months or so someone shows up and calls us a bunch of idiots. The funny thing is, they may be right on some level, if o...

I haven't tried it yet, but AE can work with Maya's camera. That is, if you can write out a Maya camera, AE should be able to use it.

So basically, 7feet's awesome script should work.

Wow, it only takes a week and a half for a pro to do a quality animation! I'm not quite sure what you expect from animators but quality animation takes time. A single animated show for Foster's Home takes a TEAM of animators 5 weeks, and they already have a pipeline and assets built. Not to mention ...

In the end I think well thought out camera moves looks better at any frame rate. Using ease in / out keyframing for cam moves. Actually if you do a bit of research you'll find that the pros from long ago (Culhane, Williams, Tony White, etc.) all recommend that you do camera moves on ones. So, if yo...

Since I'm primarily working in video for my indy stuff, I'll use 30fps. Pans should almost always be done on 1's (or full frame rates) otherwise they stutter and strobe.

It's still only available in unix, but will be going windows.

I'd love to take a look at this. If anyone notices when it goes Windows, could you post here?

Thanks!

Perhaps Monkey Jam is what you're looking for. It's basically a pencil test utility (and it's free). If you can draw and have a web cam then you'll be off and running. http://www.giantscreamingrobotmonkeys.com/monkeyjam/ If you're looking for something that actually makes the task of animation easie...

If I remember correctly, in Superman the relied pretty heavily on rotoscoping live action, too. I remember thinking it looked pretty fantastic when I was younger. I haven't seen them in quite some time. I also really liked Popey's backgrounds. For many of them they'd create round sets out of clay an...

Please don't extend it on my account. 2 months should be plenty for a 10 second animation. I was merely expressing my dismay over having to work instead of play. :(
