Very good animation, and use of a simulated 3d scene.

I think the shading does that because of the angle, namely, the changing angle. I wouldn't know for sure without the .MoHo file though.

Some Constructive Critiscm, Firstly, What is with his chin? and right side of his face ( Our right, not his). It is distorted when he turns.
