see I'm glazing over....... How do I get coffee out of my keyboard :-) I once had to hand-build a EDL editor (edit discussion lists are used in edit suites), so I got to know SMPTE well. Now if you really want to have your head implode, try using SMPTE on an Ampex 1" where you have to take int...

Time code comes in two varieties, VITC and LTC. VITC is embedded in the Vertical Interval and is used in slow mo, shuttle and accurate frame to frame reading. LTC or Longitudinal is read at normal playback speed. The format is HH:MM:SS:FR. Broadcast tape programming usually starts on 02:00:00:00 or ...

The problem with CP is a persons work is lost too easily, just too much and difficult to find what you want quickly. I tried looking for something recently and using their search engine, I found what I wanted on page 5 - I found much of what was being offered was not related to 2D animation but for ...

To be fair to SM, the launch of 7 has been a significant improvement on 6 - lessons learned; this time it has been a lot more professional and it's noted. As for the 30 days free, I didn't read the small print. I just saw the $130 headline and walked - I had my passport and visa stolen last week and...

I looked at the same idea: Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't this need a user defined field in the .anme file? Was such a layer introduced into the ASP7 file format? Be very useful if it was.

I agree motion graph editing would be cool as heck, but... uh... the bouncing ball??? Really? You guys can't figure that out? I suspect this is not a call for a Bezier interface so much as a request to fix the bug in the ease-in and ease-out functions - there is a ectopic frame at the start of the ...

This ease-i/out issue a very old problem and well documented as a bug/fix. As fas as I can remember, it dates back to at least 5.3 as a fix. I gave up arguing this one a long time ago. The arguments as to why it should be placed high on the fix list have been well debated, but the fundamental argume...

3DTV Stereoscopic rendering

Rhoel, Looks like we have to keep working on a good scripting solution for rendering 3D from the standard view. Hi Mike, Vern, GCarb, not a gripe on ASP7 - I am using my 3D script and it works for what I am doing. ToonBoom is out in stereo so I had hoped we would be too ...... As for the future of ...

Ok cool! I will plan on using foreground with alpha and large bg... Very cool. I appreciate the input! I started using ArtRage a couple of months back and can't put it down - for me it's the perfect tool for backgrounds. Really needs a pen and tablet to get the best out of it - even a cheapie 5x4 w...

GCarb didn't ask and I didn't see it in the bumph so I will raise the thorny question, did the 3D (stereo) colour output renderer make ASP 7? Same as before as far as I can see! :-(. Considering a European producer told me last month he is no longer financing anything not in S2D, this isn't good ne...

It's a good job feilan is posting in Miscellaneous Chit Chat otherwise he would have ended up in the Spam Bin.
