I got the same impression. I'd say its the viewing angle.

You know the funny thing about discussions like this is not one person in here will change their view on the subject and it will be a never-ending back and forth debate. Bottom line, tracing is fine if you give credit where credit is due and aren't making a profit of any kind off of the animation or...

From the context of your quote, it seems that the writer is talking about him tracing his own rough sketches to refine them, which is a very different thing. At least you can read and understand what that writer said. Seems like others here can't. When they mentioned "tracing" he was retr...

Re: Windows Vista

I have a host of other expensive programs like Premiere, after effects, Photoshop, etc that i would be pretty pissed to find they dont work properly. I downloaded the pre-RC1 version of Vista when Microsoft had it available online and even on that all the Adobe products seemed to work fine. I tried...

Yes Anime Studio Pro can handle the resolutions needed to produce true HDTV and film projects. It can handle rendering out a 4000x4000 pixel project...more than double the width of "true HD" (1920x1080).

You could just export the QuickTime with no codec and set its colors to Millions+ if you are worried about compression issues but still want an alpha channel. The files will be huge, but won't have any compression artifacts.

Those of you who are familiar with Norman Rockwell, illustrator for the Post magazine cover for many years, you may be aware that he often used 35 mm slides to project his images of real people to set the stage for a scene he wanted to integrate into his illustration. Was he immoral to copy what he...

I'm certainly not for copying others work for your own financial benefit, but for your own artistic education I don't think it's bad. He did mention he was doing it to learn from the pro's, plus it seems it was more an exercise in compositing anyways.

If anyone is annoyed by these kinds of threads, I say let them be annoyed. So long as there aren't any Cease and Desist letters being issued to the site admins, there's no reason you should feel required to censor yourself needlessly. Those who are annoyed can simply choose not to read these thread...

I don't think anyone here really cares about the rights. But people are commenting on the "art" as if they aren't aware that it's traced, when as far as I can tell, the purpose of the posting is not about the art at all, but about the compositing in Mirage. I recognized the character as n...

Nice drawing. I would suggest exagerating the mouth movement MUCH more than you have. Even after you saying something about it, its really hard to tell the mouth is moving at all, especially with the fog overtop of the character. The only thing I could tell was moving was the eyes. You might have th...

It is helpful to remember that a production format doesn't need to be the same as a broadcast or distribution format. It helps if it is better (in terms of dimension). Big size and full colour always can be transferrred into something smaller and compressed. But something small with reduced colours...

I work in broadcast, and I can tell you that everything is made in HD currently, not just a lot of new stuff. It may not all be broadcast in HD yet, but you can be assured that it's all made that way, in preparation for the digital broadcast changeover. The official US changeover is set for next ye...

Suggestion for FAQ - "What output resolution to use?&qu

I think with High Definition TVs becoming more and more popular, it would be a good idea for animators to get used to working in widescreen HD formats and resolutions. You'll notice a lot of new stuff is being made widescreen (like Afro Samurai, etc..) I think the correct HD resolutions should be ad...
