Thanks, No the mouth rotation error was not intentional. Neither was the place where the background suddenly shift behind the characters in the middle of a scene. There are a LOT of goofs and errors that I didn't notice till it was all done. The devil is in the details. Oh well. I hope my next one w...

Ah. I mis-understood. I thought you were talking about the program, not the manual. I don't believe the manual is available online, since it's being sold through Amazon and other regular book dealers.

I think I'll stick with using ordinary layers as "cell" masks. Seeing the term 'cell' used, would it be safe to deduce that you've done animation before? Nope. No prior experience. (If I had, I would have spelled it correctly as "cel" not "cell".) I've been animating n...

Visibility is easier IF every bubble is on it's own layer. If all the bubbles are on the same layer, then use alpha channel for each bubble. To make a bubble appear, click on the frame where you want it to appear and set the alpha channel (in the styles panel, fill/background color) to 255. then go ...

Request: Cross-fade switching

In addition to interpolation between switched layers, it would be nice to have a cross fade switch where frame 1 is layer 1, frame two is a 50/50 cross-fade d blend of layers 1 and 2, and frame three is full layer 2. That would introduce a little bit more smoothness into abrupt transitions. Right no...

I once posted to a math forum I frequent that contained three words in a row that happened to look like a SQL database query. The post was automatically blocked because it looked like I was trying to sneak a trojan horse database query into the stream. It took myself and the moderators several days ...

I'm also a newbie. What I've done so far with my 3-minute animation is to render each shot (10 to 20 seconds each) as a separate project. Then I use QuickTime Pro to stitch them together and add the soundtrack, which is a separate mp3 file. So far this approach has worked just great for me. Then, st...

I see the logic of it. But it's still confusing. I think what I will do for my tutorials is something like this: If you want an object to be hidden by the mask do "blah blah blah" and don't even bother trying to "understand" it. Think of it as a magical incantation written in an ...

Hey Vern, Thanks a million for that help! So "subtract" from mask really means to mask out what was subtracted. That just seems backwards to me. The English verb "to mask" means "to hide", so when you remove a part of the mask you should, according to standard English, ...

Masking problem with example

I just don't get masking at all!!! (grrrrr) :? I'm trying to do a mask that lets object go through a hole in a wall. The wall is an image layer, and hole is laid in as a vector layer on top. Heres an AS file that demonstrates it: http://fiziwig.com/mask_fall_in_hole.anme This example uses a vector l...

Re: reponse to above

I know you can record everything prior to the animation, now this is only my opinion but your kind of putting the cart ahead of the horse. <snip> No studio ever records the sound first and then applies the movie. Get Finding Nemo on DVD and watch the special features documentaries on how it was mad...
