I'm confused as to why this is being referred to as masking. This is using Moho to create a .png which is then imported as an image layer and warped by bones. It's pretty much exactly what the "Dancing Hawaain Girl" tutorial shows you how to do. One reason to use this method is if you've u...

http://www.horsetowater.com/SpotsExamples.mov Here's a quick example (3 meg) I threw together to show what I meant. The abstract shape has spots and a gradient, the word "Moho" has the "Splotchy" fill, and the word "Fills" has just a gradient. No texture slipping or gra...

Another approach would be to set up your background scenery using spots if you want, then render out a single frame, import it as an image layer, and disable the original vector layers. Then you could zoom in however you want with the sports intact. This is the silver bullet, guys. Render the shape...

This is well put, Myles. I was immediately captivated by the simple yet powerful interface of Moho 4. From the moment I did a test render I knew in my gut I'd be purchasing the software. I too have had that uneasy feeling that my simple yet powerful Moho will get replaced by a complicated and ALL po...

Thinking of the observation about Disney's blandness... My understanding was that his first cartoons became popular because they used sound (Steamboat Willy, Plane Crazy), and people were blown away by that. I can see where the animation wasn't state of the art at the time. On a similar, albeit seem...

A good way to do this is to drop those multiple layers into a "group" layer. Then you can perform all the functions you describe on the contained layers.

This really is true. People get so worked up about how they accomplish something that they forget that the end result is the ONLY thing that matters.

Um.. that's weird... did you select a image texture in the shape effects? If so that's not going to help because they behave in the same way as the rest of the effects... Actually, that's exactly what I did. :-( I will try using PNGs attached to the bones as my next step. When doing this I'd recomm...

"Animation" is a terrible codec for final output anyway. There's no way it can compare to H.264. You could try using Sorenson 3 - I haven't tried the new H.264 yet, but Sorenson 3 is a very good codec. When you say that it is terrible, do you mean that it creates large files, or that the ...

Render the vector layer with spots as a PNG then attach the PNG to a bone layer. No more sliding spots.

Whatever frame rate you do decide to work in, remember that Moho features a "rescale keyframes" tool. Using this in conjunction with changing the frame rate under "Project Settings" will allow you to adjust the frame rate, even if you've already animated a scene. I've had success...
