Re: How do we help with scripting docs and examples?
@Strider2000, I'll be sure to check out your videos. TBH, the scripting I've done is few and far between, so any refresher is helpful. Thanks for the other advice too!

Re: How do we help with scripting docs and examples?
You're right, I currently have 5.4.2 installed, and will make sure I'm using the 5.2 and matching reference before I go any deeper. (I should know better; ran into the same situation when taking a Python class at work.)

Re: How do we help with scripting docs and examples?
Thanks! I had actually purchased the PDF copy of the current edition earlier in the day. Glad to hear I'm on the right track. Will take the time to explore your suggestions today.hayasidist wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 2:03 pm try this to take a walk through the basics of LUA: https://www.lua.org/pil/contents.html

Re: how to make hands and arm move over and back of the body
@Synthsin75, you're right! I misremembered the keys and was too tired (or lazy) to launch Moho to check...my bad. I meant the keys with Moho's default behavior.
I'll correct my original post.

Re: how to make hands and arm move over and back of the body
Update: A correction was made to the shortcut described below. Thanks to Synthsin75 for catching that. Here's another tip: If you're going to manually animate the layer order, there are a few tricks for quickly selecting the body parts in the Layers Window. 1. Alt+Shift and Right Click on a limb in...

Re: How do we help with scripting docs and examples?
Thanks for the tips guys! This is all very helpful. if you're already familiar with block-structured languages then you shouldn't have any real problems with LUA. At work I've done some scripting for After Effects using ActionScript (an extension of JavaScript,) and dabbled a little with Python and ...

Re: How do we help with scripting docs and examples?
So, is mohoscripting.com the most complete reference guide currently available? Just wondering since it's labeled 'unofficial'. Now that it appears Moho will continue to exist and thrive, I'm making a new effort to learn Moho LUA. Right now, I'm just tinkering with existing scripts, trying to unders...

Re: how to make hands and arm move over and back of the body
As described in that other thread, use Animated Layer Order. This is easier when you've grouped your parts logically (ArmL, ArmR, Torso, etc.) Color coding the groups also helps (i.e., red for right side limbs, green for left side limbs, etc.) Sometimes I'll set up a Smart Bone Action (SBA) to manag...

Re: Release layer and points breaks flexi binding
And at this point, I think some of us are trying to think of small, easy to implement improvements for the immediate future. And I agree with Wes. For me, Moho can be greatly improved with a few 'small' fixes and feature enhancements I've described elsewhere. ('small' is in quotes because I don't r...

Re: When to use which binding
A small update for I wrote in the post above 4 years ago... I still use Use Selected Bones For Flexi-binding for much of a character's body, but I'm also using Point Binding now to lock down specific regions of these layers (typically in joint regions.) It's not unusual for me to use both methods fo...

Re: New Tool Idea
Just confirming what the guys above said. By 'Moho' points, I mean the default state of points before it's been 'activated' as a Bezier point. Once you touch a handle (when they're visible,) the point becomes a Bezier and it behaves differently when deformed by Bones. To avoid this conversion, I pre...

Re: New Tool Idea
I don't think simply using fixed handles to add points messes with bone deformation, so long as you don't mess with the handles themselves. Correct me if I'm wrong, Denis. I just tried it and, yes, I think you're correct. But if the artist is adding a Bezier point to the curve, it's probably with t...

Re: New Tool Idea
Actually, Moho will let you do that if you enable Bezier mode and Fixed Bezier handles. This is fine when you need this level of shape editing control. But you do NOT normally want this when the artwork is meant to be deformed by bones because Bezier points will not deform predictably. Standard Moho...
