So I copied the mouth switch layer (and the animation I had already done with it) to a new layer and added the stubble image over the top. Was fairly quick but not sure if you have any other ideas to make it easier/faster?

Hi Funks, That works great. click on the bone layer in the layer palette to expand it, you should then see all the layers. you can also quickly select the layer you need to change by holding alt. and right clicking on the shape you want to select.
