separate layers v's many multiple objects
More of a procedural or 'style' question. I wonder about the pros and cons of separate layers v's many multiple objects on one layer. My first thoughts... Separate layers has the advantage of independent manipulation - layer translation etc. Multiple objects on one layer has only one timeline. I wou...

I must be a bit dim... >> Activate action, select frame one, right-click 'Mainline', and select 'insert copy'. I am trying to get keys from the mainline into an action - following on from heyverns "copy from the main time line to an action" So, I have keys on the mainline. I open the actio...

great
This is great. I have made some study of the anme file - not having the least clue how Lua would do it - but, it seems to me that it is an easy matter to go through the file line-by-line, find each line (that has a key value), test whether it is greater than my selected start frame, if so - add the ...

not just me
OK, so its not just me. Being new one can never be sure if it is just another nerdy tangent. In Swish (my flash clone) it still needed to be done by timeline but there was a shortcut - F5 or shift F5 for 10 frames. Relatively quick and easy. So, I will find some play time and have a go at scripting ...

copy
Thanks for sharing the workflow slowtiger. It is good to get some idea of how people are working. >> copy from the main time line to an action Can't see how to do this - but see the value in being able to. I created bone ani. keys on the main time line: - copied them - pasted into a blank action ins...

script?
layer by layer... I guess it depends how far the project had developed. Could be very tedious :>) Not that I have done so much animation (quite a bit in Flash) but I always seem to want a few extra frames, timing mostly. Sometimes it is a whole new segment that 'should have been' planned for - but w...

good head
And a good head up it was indeed.
I tried various combinations and it seems that interpolation is limited to a layer copy. Oh well, nice try arfa but - no banana (this time :)
I'll be back - arfa

bones save
>> Import Anime Studio Object Yes. transfer from one instance to another
Two items here: 1) Is it possible to copy an action sequence from one action-timeline to another. I have tried opening an action in edit mode, highlight, copy. Then, go to a new layer, open action window, paste. Nothing. Can it be done or are the relative specifics of points/bones/etc to particular?...

point count - interpolation
Experimenting with switch interpolation and came up against the point-count problem. There needs to be the same number of points on each layer. How to know how many points on each respective layer? I went digging into the *.anme file and found that the information is there. Quite easy to find by sea...

script update
I have used my PHP script a few more times and, while still undecided actions v's PHP, I have made a few improvements to the script. more?
more? pray tell... I was wondering if it might be a way to resolve an earlier question of mine on adding in a block of empty keyframes, over the whole document.? I haven't given that much time to studying the file structure but imagine it is consistent enough to do such a thing. Perhaps too complex?...

the question
Well spotted slowtiger. As is often the case getting the question rightly posed is half the trick. Yes, taking ALL keyframes, ALL timelines of say frames, 40-60 and moving them all 20 frames to the right - so I can do an extra bit of ani. over those (empty) 20 frames. I will test this later this eve...
