You'll need to locate the frame where the changes in the object were made. To do this: 1. Select the layer your object exists...

While I agree with you on the paper and pencil approach to story boarding, in my case it'd be difficult for me to put it into actual practice, due to physical disabilities. The thing that I find interesting with Manga Studio is that you can import objects from apps like Poser, and in some instances,...

I'm strongly considering picking this one up to help suppliment some of the anime styled stuff I've been working on in Moho. I have a feeling this app would be a great way to storyboard for animation.

There's a great book on the subject of taking an animated story idea from concept to completion that I strongly recommend checking out... Inspired 3D Short Film Production by Jeremy Cantor and Pepe Valencia. While you may not be working in 3D specifically, the concepts it covers are vital knowledge ...

This has been a fairly common form of animation over the years, most likely with roots going back to the works of Ray Harryhausen. Some more modernized uses of the technique include "The Spirit of Christmas" (the semi-pilot of South Park before they the switched the process to Alias Wavefr...

Yeah, this is a work in progress. Right now, the background hair is a set of eight shape objects that are mostly being manipulated through rotation and transitioning. I'm still trying to get a feel for hair physics before moving to boned versions. So far, newtonian physics suggests hair on an object...

Here's an initial full-fledge animation of the character I've been working on:

Image

Unlike the previous project, the hair has not been boned, but manually shape-animated. It's not quite at the point I'd like to have it at yet, but it's getting very close.

There are some fantastic books on the market for creating animation in general. One in particular I strongly recommend picking up is The Animator's Survival Kit by Richard Williams (the lead animator for Who Framed Roger Rabbit ). Not only does it cover common techniques in great detail, it's also a...

Multi-Monitor Support

While this is a relatively trivial issue with Moho, it would be nice if it could memorize window positions across multiple displays. Under the Mac OS X version, the app ends up placing the upper-left corner of each window moved off the primary display to a relative location on the primary display pa...

Interesting approach and one I hadn't quite thought of... Cribble's method utilizes only four layers with visibility swapping, breaking the turn sequence up at the points where z-sorting becomes an issue. Each layer tweens as needed, then in the two frames where the z-sorting changes, the layer visi...

Just a thought, but perhaps one way around this would be to create your movie in moho at twice the resolution needed (doubling the dimensions in both directions), then use a third party editor to scale it back down. The reduction in size should result in a sharper image in the final output. I used t...

I know flash can use .swf files as objects, but I haven't personally tried it. I can't say for sure how much control flash would allow over these kinds of objects outside of playback (pause/stop/loop animation) options, but it may be enough to use them as sprites in a game setting. The way I'd appro...

I've actually been trying to figure out a way to pull this off in Moho with vector objects that can be tweened. So far, my plan is to create a basic head object with foreground (face parts) and background (hair) elements, morph/translate each part as needed (ignoring z-sorting) over time, duplicate ...

You might want to look at the "extra smooth images" option in the export animation window. It's also possible that After Effects simply has a more sophisticated method for interpolating images, since it's designed more for animating raster (resolution dependent) graphics, while Moho is des...

Have you looked at the tutorial on masking in the Moho "Help"? It's basically the same setup as the example they provide, only you have create a copy of your character's layer to designate as a masking layer. This lets you mask the character's shape so the character itself remains visible,...
