Okay, this is really weird. It seems that every time I reload it, it works for a while then the cool static thing happens. Every time, it's less time before the static comes. This time, I just reloaded it yesterday, and now it doesn't work. Any tips? PLEEEZ has anyone heard of this happening? Should...

Okay, I reinstalled US with out my sound card plugged in, and it still has a SigMatel sound card in the volume options. I thought this was the internal speaker, but that won't play sound either. I tried using a USB adapter I have, but it's not working either. Any idea what the problem could be? Do I...

Here it is. It's not microscopically small, so I think I can solder it with out messing it up. I circled the part where it was soldered into a blob instead of a mountain, so it fell off. Sorry about the huge picture, but I still haven't reinstalled Ubuntu and I don't have an image editing program on...

Update: I installed XP on my laptop to see if the sound would work on it, since I couldn't figure out what was causing the problem. I didn't. I opened it up and looked at my sound card only to find that the guy who fixed it didn't solder it properly (mountains- not blobs). So, thanks for your help. ...

Yeah, here's how to trigger the crash: Turn it on. As for downgrading to 8.04, I don't think that's a good idea. Maybe 8.10, but not 8.04. I'm gonna try reloading and see if it helps for some reason. If not, I might have luck using XP as a host system and running Ubuntu in a virtual machine, though ...

It must be something specific of ubuntustudio 9.10 because as you said it does work with 9.04. If it is a production machine don't go so further. Stick to 9.04, or you're in a hurry with a special version of any program? I'll try that, but the problem is that my graphics card doesn't work with 9.04...

Any word yet on what it costs to upgrade from 5.6 Pro to 6 Pro? Is it another $200 or is there an upgrade price? $129, I think. ---- Does that mean it'll be $279 to upgrade from AS5.6 to ASP6? That doesn't seem right. Anyways, screw the iPhone I've been saving up for. I think this is worth it (I mi...

Help with sound on Linux PLEEZ
Hey, I have Ubuntu Studio on my laptop, and it won't play sound. The sound card (Sigmatel) is recognized, and all the volume levels are turned all the way up, but there's no sound coming out. I even tried using an external USB audio adapter, and NOTHING. It worked fine with Ubuntu Studio 8.04, 8.10,...

If you've used AS for any time whatsoever you're sure to find something that's worth the upgrade price (and it's much less than an iPhone -- the cost of the iPhone is nothing compared to the bi-yearly contract you have to sign. After two years you will have spent $2K for an iPhone, which would buy ...

The one thing that always bugged me in the past was the bias against Mac by developers. I've actually heard software developers say they wish they could just dump the mac OS completely and only work on the Windows version. Or they wouldn't develop for Mac because they would have to buy one. In the ...
