This is an old thread, but since people might read it to try to figure out this problem ... how difficult is it to let both characters get sync-ed with AS facility then delete the keyframes for the one who you don't want talking? How many two-shots do you have? This is the method I'm going to use fo...

Super good. I prefered the main character you drew in your story-boards, but holy-quacamole that was well done. Zippy!

Your drawings and use of color are great. It will be fun to see where you take this. It's clearly the result of a lot of work even if you are doing this only as a "hobby." Your sons must be so pleased.

Daniel, Thanks and good work. I like the "old-timey" feel. One question: why did you not animate in AS, why did you use stop-motion? Was it for the "old-timey" feel? I can imagine recreating those lighting effects in AS would be much harder than deriving them in an organic way. C...

Wow

It took me awile to work through this entire thread but it was well worth it. My brain is squinting at the complexity and attention to detail in Vern's rig. It looks great. Amazing. And your short, "The Incompetent Secret Agent" is also really sweet. I disagree with one thing: I liked the ...

I'm going to try to watch the whole thing later. I got about 3 minutes in but had to stop because the movie stopped playing every 4 seconds and the stuttering effect was just way too annoying. I can tell you this for sure, paranoia has to wait, I need milk.

It really was a one-sided article. And all the irritation expressed here is called for. People might read that and be completely mislead. Let's show him up by producing sweet fluid expressive animations -- oh wait, people here are already doing that. All right, let's produce more!

Truth in advertising

It seems to me that the best part of that article was when the author, trying to explain his criticism of AS, wrote, "This frustration partly stems from my bias toward animating by hand." Because he captured, in a nutshell, a real truth about every animation program -- the right one for yo...

I'm noticing that now, Rasheed. Thank you. It's instructive to look at that example, but I'm not sure it will work for me. My characters are more complicated and would make that kind of point binding a nightmare.

What do you recommend as a good rigging strategy?

More on this method: it looks great with a smooth character with uniform coloring. In fact it looks amazing. A little bit of playing with it suggests a some future problems: the arms move behind the body. Maybe there's a way around this of which I'm unaware. Also, when you start adding points, it ge...
