If you're on OS X, use quicktime.

Unfortunately you cannot animate the layer origin.

You could put the layer inside a group layer and use the group's origin to animate the rotation from a separate origin...

Not really possible, unless you do it the way you're already doing it.

You could use a white layer shadow instead of lines and enable 'Clip shadow to group' to get a similar effect, you'll have less layers that way.

I could have a look if you want lukas@frameorder.nl (You can probably send it without the .png files if the problematic layer is a vector layer)

It's hard to pinpoint the problem without seeing the file, but it sounds like there might be some masking settings on the copied layer still active. Have you tried disabling all masking?

The viewport will only show the selected layer within a Switch-layer. If you have no layer from the Switch selected, the current active layer will show. If you want to see all layers at the same time, I recommend putting them in a regular Group layer, and when you're done with them, turn the Group i...

Currently running Krita Desktop 2.9.10 on Windows 10. Both the 64 and 32 bit version don't have those dockers... What are you using?
