Rendering Key Frame Frequency

Curious...so you know how when you're about to render a video (e.g. .MOV format) and in the last dialogue box there is a field that prompts you to enter how often it will keyframe. What exactly does this do and how will it effect the render if at all when the values are changed? Is it supposed to ma...

Re: Romeo and JuliANT

Sven, I really liked your suggestion about the outdoor sounds, I had planned to do that when I was conceptualizing the whole thing in my head at the beginning, and got so mucked down in animating it I forgot all about it. Another forum mentioned using shadows...I think once I get those two things in...

Romeo and JuliANT

So for those of you here familiar with animestudiotutor.com they do periodic animation contests...this month's theme is "an animated ant" - so I made this short and am planning on submitting it. Check it out, comments/critique/input welcome :)

Re: Ant Leg Bones and Color issue

Thanks Heyvern, the solution worked perfectly. It makes good sense, I can't believe I didn't think to try it...sometimes I get so caught up in figuring out what in the world is wrong I forget to think of an alternate solution. Thanks for helping me understand what was wrong, otherwise I'm sure I'd r...

Ant Leg Bones and Color issue

So I'm creating and rigging an ant for a contest. I had it almost fully rigged and ready to go, everything looked fine in frame 0. Then when starting to animate down the timeline, I noticed that three of the legs as they would move started manipulating the gradient colors in the shapes of the body. ...

Frame rate in video editor

So I've always had AS render a .mov file, which I would then import into my video editor (powerdirector). Now I decided I want to try the preferred method of exporting PNG files. The problem I'm facing is I can't tell if the exitor is exporting in 29.97 fps or 30. (I seem to think its 29.97 but I'm ...

Re: Tool_list.txt and scripting help

OK, so I tried it out, worked like a charm! It was the AS version number that was causing the problem, I fixed that, now everything's as it should be. Thanks again Hayasidist!

:) he's 7 weeks and a handful! And well played slowtiger, you gave me a hearty chuckle! But just maybe I will post another "how to" because perhaps there is a sub-demographic in the animators community that could use a tip or two in the baby-making arena :) present company excluded of cour...

Sweet, thank you for your reply. I have a newborn at home so it might be a bit before I get to work it out, but when I get to it I'll post to let you know how it goes. Thanks again!

Tool_list.txt and scripting help

So when I upgraded to AS 9.5, as soon as i launched i noticed all of my scripts were disabled and all of my custom keyboard shortcuts were reset/erased. All the icons for my scripts still appeared in the tool space in AS, they just no longer functioned. I tried a computer search for all files tool_l...

Ethan's Bookworm Caterpillar

This was my first attempt to animate a piece of artwork that was hand drawn and scanned into my computer. It was a black and white pen drawing, I added all color and animation using AS9. Let me know what you think or any suggestions for future technique.
Thanks!

Audio Problem, PLEASE HELP!!!

So...I opened AS up today to continue my current project. None of the mp3 files I had placed into the timeline were working. I checked every setting I could. The volume radio button was on, the audio levels were all at "1" as they should be - then when I tried adding a new mp3 I got the me...

Exporting Settings for Youtube

Question...when exporting, it asks if I want to limit to so many Kbytes per second. If my ultimate purpose is posting to youtube, is there an ideal value I should be putting in this field? Does it even matter? What other applications does this have? I usually just keep it blank. Thank you for your h...
