Don't forget their brilliant decision to cancel "The Tick" (the animated show) because it didn't test well in the 6-9 year old demographic, even though practically my entire dorm got up early on Saturday morning to see it. Not an easy feat!

My 2 cents: The Illusion of Life is great if you learn by reading. The Animator's Survival Kit is great if you learn by seeing (visual diagrams that is). If you can handle both that's even better. The Animator's Survival Kit is my personal fav. I haven't seen the Don Bluth books. I'm sure you've hea...

High framerate 2D animation can give you something of a "floaty" underwater look if the action isn't fast and furious - often caused by too many computer-generated in-between frames. Traditional animation is often "shot on twos", working at 24fps with every second frame repeated...

I just realized that After Effects Pro's Foam effect can use gray scale images to effect flow of particles. Pretty simple but a very cool effect.

Very nice job cRaZy DaN! Running a contest is no small feat and you got some great entries.

I'm not sure why it told me the poll was closed early. I have a bit of an overzealous firewall that screws with web scripting and cookies.

Anyway, very nice job.

If you were rendering layers individually, it wouldn't be that hard to export Z data . Otherwise it would be pretty useless. I'm not sure how it's useless. Many compositing apps can take advantage of z-depth for effects like depth of field and fog. Both of which are much easier to work with in 2d t...

If I may, I'll couple a past request on top of this that may help some. Z-buffer render. I'm pretty sure Moho uses a z-buffer to define rendering in 3d. It would be great to get that info out, then you could use it in your favorite compositing program to do fog, and depth of field effects. What I wo...

Bones are a tool, just like any other. Use them correctly and the result is good, use them in the wrong way and...well, you know... 3D aps have the same kind of bone structure and the same problems, only the best animators can create good movements. I haven't done a lot of experimenting but if I fi...

Rendering at least 2-3 times scale isn't perfect either, but does work to some extent, but then you're files, pre-compression are 4-8 times as big as should be necessary (remember when you double the resolution, you're doubling length and width). Not a very good solution as far as I'm concerned, esp...

Good luck 7feet. I think it's probably a pretty worthwhile adventure, even if I don't necessarily have a use for it now, it doesn't mean that I won't later or that others won't have tremendous use of it. If it works out, I imagine it could have a pretty unique and interesting look to it.

Yeah, Adobe's known for inexpensive software  They did a good job with improving Cool Edit Pro (now Audition). I have high hopes for them integrating Flash and Adobe's other imaging products better. Perhaps even integrating it into menu creation for DVD's with Encore, that would rock. I always ...

It could be a "poor man's" roto tool. Imagine being able to use track data to constrain joint position to. Could be a cool effect. The real technical and monetary question being, where do you get the track data from and how do you use it, most packages that offer tracking aren't cheap (unl...

Adobe buys Macromedia

http://www.ecommercetimes.com/story/business/42364.html Now maybe Flash will work better in After Effects, because it's the only way I can get accurate line widths out of Moho. I'm just glad the buy out wasn't the other way around. Imagine if Macromedia started developing Photoshop and After Effects...

NTSC is 720x486 or PAL at 720x57 But you forgot about the square (what Moho is capable of) vs rectangular (what DV uses). Actually, consumer grade NTSC DV uses 720x480 rectangular pixels. However, if you want to render full res with Moho (or any program that doesn't support rectangular pixels) you ...
