Re: Interesting topic

I like this thread it's got good info on both sides. I guess this all comes down to your intentions for producing your own animated film. Is it something you want to be marketable and profitable. In which case after reading the posts about the realities of how to get something funded and published ...

Which version of .ai are you using? I would use the earliest version possible like 3 or something. Does this mean that listening to a 62 year-old man cry his eyes out has melted your heart? :D See, crying works. Version CS3. Is it Adobe's faulth that ASPro cannot import .ai files without trashing t...

AS trashes my Illustrator files. They come in looking like a pile of spagetti. And forget vector imports of Flash files. I am bringing my Flash stuff into ASPro as PNG files for cut-out animation. Not the best choice, but it works pretty well and allows for color and shading in Photoshop. In fact, i...

As I wrote in regard to the drawing tools: "you have convinced me that you are right simply because of your expertise and experience". So, okay, learning the AS drawing tools is not so difficult. And I can see that the drawing tools were designed as they are so as to create the fewest poss...

As much as I like Anime Studio, I have really, really, really been trying to use Toon Boom for one simple reason. Toon Boom imports such a variety of formats that AS doesn't even touch, that it seems to be a better choice. I have spent weeks and weeks and weeks learning Toon Boom but it just isn't a...

Whoa, lets not argue about advice now. I agree with Slowtiger on this one though, any program will suffice. ....And don't be offended with Slowtigers comment, he is just a direct strait to the point type of person. If you need a constructive comment he's the one. Plus, foundations are necessary for...

Anybody could create nice results with nearly any software - it only depends on your devotion to it, on your ability and willingness to learn, and of course on your very own creative input. The thing with animation is that the principles you need to know are completely independant from the techniqu...

can Toonboom Digital Pro achieve all the tricks done in these productions alone? Who cares? Any professional production will use as much different software as it needs to get the job done. It's only the amateur who might be only able to afford one program who asks this question. Harsh words but tru...

I tried to use Premier when I was working with Flash. But the Flash sequence files in Premier were all of a duration of 5 frames each instead of one frame each. Is there a way to reduce the duration of each frame in Premier without having to change each duration individually? A batch process of som...

banjar: There's no need to export image sequences from Flash. Exporting a video file is much easier. Since you want to edit it afterwards, use a video codec with no compression, like Animation or PNG (with the correct settings). Another good tip. But I am trying to get away from Flash entirely and ...

Hello all Are you saying that this is done in Anime Studio? Chaotic is done in Toonboom Digital Pro/Harmony (Chaotic - Grossology - Digata Defender - Ruby Gloom and many more ) Although AS Pro could and can do cutout animation style, it lacks a few tools like morphing to achieve all the tricks done...

A bit of clearance: "Compositing" is the process of combining several layers into one image or video. "Editing" is the process of assembling scenes together in time. There is no "best". It all depends on your machine, OS, and target format. Oops, sorry. I meant editing...

Yeah, the title of your message threw me as well. I immediately thought of After Effects (other than Combustion it has no equal in the compositing world). I use Premiere Pro for all my editing -- putting together the individual AS scenes, adding sound, etc. You can some simple compositing (green sc...

What's the best compositor?

Many of you have mentioned using Quicktime Pro to composite your projects. Is this the best one to use? What about using Adobe Premiere or some other program?

What is the best compositing program to use for assembling the scenes, sound tracks, title screens, etc?

Any suggestions?

I've been doing television production for over 15 years. There's a common belief that equipment/technology/facilities are essential to success. While this statement has truth in it, it hides the much greater truth: WE alone are the greatest conduits to success. It's not the sneakers that make a gre...
