Hi..
Thumbnails and basic slugging was done on paper. With a pencil and stopwatch. Thats where you get the basic meat worked out.

Storyboard drawn up pretty loose in Flash.

Animatic was After Effects.

Animation was all AS.

Compositing was done in Combustion.

cheers

Yuk!
Its nuts! We did a short sample for a movie a few weeks a go. No way we can show it, but the quality was up there with anything out their feature-wise.

The film was to be 3d. What we did with AS made them re-think that. They couldn't believe it was 2d.

I Use Flash for all my boards. Have done for years. It's a white bit for drawing in and a timeline. Obviously I thumb on paper first. Then time/slug it. Then draw up in Flash. Adding as many poses as I need. I've not needed a hard copy of a board for years. I go from Flash to After Effects for anima...

The best thing for me is to take a walk outside. Not being funny with you. But thats always the best start. Take a sketchbook and camera phone. Its the only true way to learn about light and colour. Two hugely important storytelling ingredients. Yes BGs tell your story too. Don't just slap character...
