This little freebie worked for me for MP4 to AVI
http://mp4ui.sourceforge.net/
Don't know if pros would want more features. Also, I think it exports the audio separately, but I just wanted to get the video into an AVI.

importing frames from a .flv file into AS
Is there a direct method to import frames from an flv file into ASPro?
If a conversion must be done, what is the best tool (public domain preferred) for converting the frames into an image format which AS can read?

animated mouth on top of a photo
I'm going to use a photo as the face of a character. I'll need the character to talk so I'll need to create mouth positions for each phenome. Which approach is best? Should I create image files using Gimp? Or should I use draw tools in AS to have vector based mouths on a layer in front of the face? ...

You can put each scene in a separate group/bone layer and then either toggle the visibilties or put them in switch layers. But the bigger the AS file gets the more it may slow down. I think many would agree that it's better to make one file per scene. You can always render these out separately and ...

I downloaded your sample as i'm at the learning stage for papagayo and AS Pro. You probably already know this, but for other learners: I'm pretty sure that animators will usually have just the mouth in the switch layer, and keep the rest of the character in a parent layer. That way the head , body, ...

There is a menu script that loads the same dat files for switch layers but instead activates actions. I have to track it down it again. It was created by Ramon Lopez. There is a link to the thread it's in in my scripting thread at the top of the scripting forum. -vern I found a thread where a lot w...

I really recommend that you try and create some dance poses and movements first , before you step into switch layers or even actions. Those will do nothing for you if you didn't feed them with some material. Yes. My objective is satire, so artistic mastery will be less of a priority than the time i...

Re: vector vs. bitmap
It would depend on how the character was created and rigged with the bones. If it is just a "straight" conversion out of say, Illustrator and all the points are bound to bones then yes, substituting an image would work. If however the character is carefully rigged with specific point bind...

Hi Vern, 1. Are you currently selling any character packs? 2. I'm still new to AS, but am trying to understand the significance of this new tool of yours. If we had designed a robot character to have a certain walk, or actions to throw a ball, or swing a golf club - with your tool we could: copy a r...
