You absolutely need to build separate legs! If you build your beast in just one shape, you can't have one leg go over another because the fill colour will vanish in the overlapping area. Since your legs already are coloured differently from the body, it shouldn't be a problem to keep them separate. ...

I read that you should do your walks on 16's (16 frames) That's much too generalized to be correct. Walks can be done in any speed. You have to differenciate between the length of the walk and the fps rate of your film. Since traditional animation is done for film with a fixed 24 fps, all reference...

I do all curvy motion paths by hand. This way I can place the keys where I want them which is much more subtle than any tweaking in graph mode. My way to do that, like a parable for a bouncing object: 1. Set start and end keys. (Like #1 and #13) 2. Set start key interpolation to linear. 3. Set middl...

AS benu...

What a great find! It is definitely from that period, the movements of the characters and the jerkiness of cuts clearly indicates that. It is not by Lotte Reiniger: her movement would be a tad smoother, and overall production quality better. But the animator is equally skilled. It was done in Hollyw...

It's up to you how much work you want to spend on details. The walk can be used like this, if your film is a fast-paced story with lots of cuts. My personal preference would be to improve it a bit: right now the feet are sliding on the ground, and while the overall gestures are broad and exaggerated...

Yes, I remember. But I was specifically asking for drawn cutouts - sorry if that wasn't clear.
Today I saw another example of a nice style, at least in some scenes: http://dekku.blogspot.com/2007/11/stuar ... uckoo.html. The animation is ... well, we could do that better, right?

Ah, this is a complicated subject. In short, it all depends on the power of your graphic card. Vector images have a small filesize, but need to be calculated for every frame. Many vectors slow down AS significantly. Image files stay as they are as long as they're not distorted, so it's only a matter...
