What kind of budget do you have for advertising? That will have an effect on where to go. Why do you think they need to be based in LA or NY?

Well, lacking vectors, you might as well just up the resolution and export a .psd or targa or whatever and print from that. Or, you could try to download Flash from Adobe, and run it in trial mode for a month (and hope that it allows for this sort of use). I have no idea if it will work with Inkscap...

I just exported AS to .swf. Created a new project in Flash. Imported the .swf file. Select all, copy. Opened Illustrator, Paste-vectors came in. Lines and fills.

What size are you rendering? What codec? How much compression is involved? Say that, then it's easier to direct you what you might change to reduce render times.
