Size

I believe that I have also experienced this, and with some other applications. But, after so many years, it's a bit of a blur. While this is being figured out, you can keep working easier by rendering a frame larger than your pan range (if your comping this in another program). I typically render 28...

Buy?

If you buy a product from a typical corporation, you also have to buy a part of that corporation's debt. Everything is leveraged. Part of this started as a way to protect a company from hostile takeovers. It's easier to take over a public company that is debt free. They also want cash that is uncomm...

Updates

Since this interesting thread began, I've started using Pencil Check Pro (just the scanning, drawing and basic X-sheet part of what I guess is now ToonBoom Animate). There were some action sequences that before I made all the necessary parts in ASP, I could draw the shot in PCP. For slow, subtle ges...

Helloooooo

Some other people had expressed a desire for some type of frame by frame drawing, and I thought this was an OK combination. I also figured somebody would also tell me I'm full of crap. But, this thread seems to be radioactive. This must be another of those time when I blindly stomped right over some...

OS Blues

I just thought I'd mention my recent experience with Mac, and it's relative. After 2 and 1/2 years, Apple made my EXPENSIVE desktop obsolete. I cannot upgrade it any longer, to the best of my knowledge. This is a hardware implementation. It looks like a Windows machine will have a lot longer life as...

ASP, PCP Combo

ToonBoom dropped the price on Pencil Check Pro, and I eventually bought a license. It's a really, really basic application, but you can draw fast after getting use to the brush's auto-smoothing. I'm using this in conjunction with Anime Studio Pro. ASP rendered PNG files import well into PCP, so if I...

The upgrade, or whole application price for ASP is comparatively low - as little as a third of what it might cost to upgrade an Adobe product. And, I understand that the system usage restricts what OS it can run on. But, since my situation requires a new computer henceforth (I just got tech support ...

Taking GCharb's comments at face value, I agree one hundred percent. In a way, some of the new stuff just looks like low hanging fruit, not valuable production upgrades for 2D animation. The face value remark is because Apple Computer is making it very expensive to upgrade hardware more than a coupl...

Too Mysterious?

Can anybody tell what's going on here, this might be better left in black and white? Obviously, I don't want this to be too big of a mystery.

Nice Script

This works great. I have just one question. I get an error message when I add a layer anywhere inside, or outside of the HEAD folder (Meshinstance wrong order - swap the source and the copy!). Is that normal?

Photoshop CS5

Actually, I was just going to post the following relative question, has anyone here used Photoshop CS5 extended yet? I'm wondering about the animation tools for drawing frame by frame.

Gratifying

It's really gratifying to read the positive words from fellow animators. In response to some posts, here is a screen grab of my work space. Note the key drawings in the layer palette. You can see how rough (quick) the blue line drawing is. In the time line you can see how the visibility of the key d...

How do you draw your characters so well in ASP? TELL ME YOUR SECRET!!! I draw key frames on a light box and scan them with pegs taped to my scanner. Or, I draw in either Photoshop or Pencil. If I get to a point in ASP where I'm not really sure how I'm inbetweening a figure, I go back and draw anoth...

Summer, 1538.

The only bones in this are in the hands and fingers. I was seeing if things would turn out much different if I went pretty much bone free. Even if a bunch of fancy scripts aren't being used, bones help stabilize everything around the torso. So, back to the usual routine. http://www.vimeo.com/11304842

Success?

Maybe (and oddly enough) this scene is having the effect that I sought after - facing a low sun. However, this is useful feedback. I am trying to walk a very thin line, between what would be more natural, and what is more pleasing to look at. It's very hard to see something correctly when my mind al...
