Yeah, natural and spontaneous speaking often makes for a good alternative, if all else fails. It doesn't come off as being forced compared to bad voice acting from a script. (Kind of like looking at a photograph of people in a pose vs. a photo of people simply acting naturally, as though there were ...

Voice acting isn't just a matter of talking and letting some piece of software modify it in post production. It also depends on the voice actor's individual ability to control and master all of the muscles that make speech possible, as well as how to apply that talent toward creating a wide variety ...

Well, I haven't read the thread in question, but I can say that the path to becoming a great animator is full of obstacles that one must overcome: 1. Be patient and don't expect to become good at it overnight. Most animators will end up dedicating several years or even decades of their lives toward ...

This might be an off the wall thought, but could it be the avatar you're using? If the general policy here is to remove posts/threads that are offensive to other users, having them posted using an avatar that is "flipping the bird" might have some bearing on that. I'd look to see if you ha...

I've had problems downloading purchased content from content paradise in the past as well. My solution has been to completely close off all windows to content paradise immediately after a download starts. For some reason, this has been the only successful method I've used after 30 hours and nearly 2...

I think it depends mainly on how complicated your scene really needs to be. If you need a certain character or setting extremely well detailed, then it's probably worth the time drawing out. For example, check out this scene taken from The Ren & Stimpy Show (episode "Stimpy's Fan Club"...

In my case, I just print the templates as a need them and draw out some rough sketches right on them. Since the sheets are expendable, you can simply toss a bad one and start another. Most likely though, any sort of serious storyboard art should probably drawn out lightly in pencil then inked in aft...

Agreed... my storyboard sheets are definitely lacking in certain details, which would certainly be a problem for animation with a group of other animators. However, in my case, I work independently for the time being, so formal organization isn't quite as important, since I'm generally well aware of...

I myself have been using 8.5" x 11" sheets split into a 4 x 2 grid. Each row is a scene frame drawing, with brief descrition area beneath it: - Storyboard Template (55K Photoshop 7 document) It's not the perfect setup for highly detailed scene layout, but it gets the job done for organizin...

I think he means he can't find any tools that automate the construction of basic manga characters and their various features, such as a tool that would generate a head/eye/body automatically... like what you'd find in Poser or various game titles that permit the creation of custom characters from a ...

I think a lot of it has to do with the type of animation you want to create. If you're going for heavily exaggerated action common in cartoons from the 1950s or earlier, the layer rotation head animation might fit in just fine... but in moderation. The problem with this, is that it often creates &qu...

I've now had a chance to run some brief tests. It seems that while the 5G iPod does allow some still frame stepping, it does so at a minimum of 5 second increments. Not quite enough to get a good frame by frame overview of an animated scene, but it is perfectly adaquate for getting a detailed storyb...

Definitely not bad.

I have a demo moho/as file available that demonstrates how one might go about creating this type of effect, for anyone interested:

Wow, the times sure have changed over the years. A nine year old who knows how to perform basic 3D modeling work and apply it into a 2D environment. I actually had to teach a course on 3D modeling and animation during my senior year in high school, and very few of them could actually grasp the conce...
