Steve Ryan has a few video-based tutorials (originally for Moho, but almost all of it will apply to Anime Studio as well). I've got a few SWF-based tutorials on various topics that have come up in the forum. Anything for Moho 5 onwards is mostly in SWF format and is still probably applicable to Anim...

Hi Marco, I've listed a few books here on character design. The book you mention is, as I recall, fairly good for getting you thinking about character design - including examples from different artists as to how they would all draw a particular character based on a text description of that character...

Re: Drawing

I have had ASPRO for a day now and was wondering if there is another program to draw characters then import? I know thers got to be because GreyKids stuff cant be drawn just in AS. The character eyes, nose, colors, etc... are so perfect. If they have they must have been doing it in ASfor a long tim...

Hi lindseycodi, Sorry, just clarifying a possible point of confusion - you realise this forum is about "Anime Studio (Pro)", the software formerly known as Moho, and not about studios that make anime? This isn't meant to discourage you or anyone from posting to this thread, just checking a...

There's a recent update available here - you could see if that fixes your problems. I'm not a Mac user myself, so I don't know if it also fixes that particular problem. The readme says: ********************************** Anime Studio Pro 5.5 Updater for Macintosh ********************************** N...

Anime Studio does not support vector import with gradients. Either import as .png with gradients, or import plain-filled vectors and apply an Anime Studio gradient. Anime Studio has linear and circular gradients, which are positioned according to the size of the shape. However, you can control the p...

Sure - weld a dividing line down the middle, select and fill each half, then hide the dividing line.

Hi Patmals,

sorry, it seems to be a Melbourne-only event (possibly partly due to the ACMI faciltities), although I believe a couple of the Pixar animators were around giving talks at the Sydney Film Festival in June.

Mouth phonemes are just regular vector or image layers, place them all as children of a Switch layer. Position them over a face without a mouth, and bind the switch layer to the same bone that controls the face/head. Your phoneme layers need to have exactly the same name and case as the phonemes Pap...

Anime Studio is designed as a 2D (flat) cartoon (comic) animation program. It does not do 3D construction well (although some advanced users like Genete push the boundaries). You can only do 3D work in the Pro version (Anime Studio Pro), not in the standard version (Anime Studio). In my opinion, Ani...

Pixar exhibition in Melbourne, Australia

For any of you in the Melbourne area who have the time and a little cash, drop in and see the Pixar exhibition in the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Federation Square. $15 per adult entry, lots of interesting character development and design insight. Small queues. I particularly would like ...

I think that's a known bug - the Mac version of ASPro currently has trouble loading files through the scripting interface.

However, I think that's one of the bugs that's been squashed and will be remedied in the upcoming AS update.
