In the meanwhile, have you had a chance to try out Blender lately? It seems like it actually works pretty well as a 3D cel-shader now. Here's a sample rendering: http://www.bones3d.com/blender/blendcel.jpg For anyone who wants to check it out, here's the project file for the above image. I still ha...

I am not quite understanding something here. Is this a character that already existed in iClone and you are using your roto technique to apply the motion from iClone to a 2D scene? Or is this a character you created in iClone? (I heard that 3DS Max was required to create characters in iClone, otherw...

Well, in this case, it's not so much about resolution as much as it is about cost. The F900 or F950 that Lucas and Rodriguez used on Star Wars or Desperado 3 costs well over $100,000 if you want stuff like a lense on it. (It cost a lot more back then when it was the #1 camera on the block) The Panas...

How do you like the HVX200 footage? We rented one for some pickups and element shoots for one of the movies we are doing and I was amazed what we could capture with it. We were all thinking, "How great it would be if we could run out and shoot a cheap film with this while we have it." One ...

The very idea of using Poser in conjunction with AS is a good one and I hope to really explore the possibilities in the near future. Art reference is originally what Poser was made for.

WOW! I love the point motion roto stuff. That Trek test was really cool as well, but this has a nice flow to it. I would love to see some total scenes.

Not that it's really important, but the HD format is wide and 1280x720, my personal format of choice, and 1440x1080, are just as "true" HD as the 1920 format. In fact, they have some advantages in many cases.

You may run into some issues trying to get Quicktimes to work with alpha channels. Even if the file has the channel, I oftimes notice that the correct data is not in the channel. It seems that png is the ideal way to go, especially on the Mac. I have have only had success with this method when compo...
