I just came across Mike Nguyen's blog: http://rainplace.net/

I haven't had a chance to go back and read it all yet, but it seems to go very in depth on the intent of the principles rather than the techniques derived from those principles.

Those gaps have always bugged me too. I have been dealing with it by adding extra points in the hidden line and moving the points around until the gaps disappear, but it requires adjustment when the bones move. Your technique will eliminate a lot of extra work. (provided i don't change my lineweight...

GCharb,
In a walk cycle with a realistic character would you apply stretch and squash to the entire body or only particular parts? I'm working on improving one where I only have stretch and squash in the legs. Now I'm thinking I should add some to the torso as well?

I'm not familiar with Coreldraw, so this is just a guess. But according to this: http://www.lostmarble.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8862&start=30 when you import an AI file, AS will add points to approximate the vectors. But you're also converting it from Corel to AI, so maybe points are being adde...

Nice walk cycle. :) The only problem I see is that the feet seem to get stuck for a moment somewhere near the passing position. I can't quite tell why. It could be that when the foot is in the air, the arc path is not quite smooth. Or maybe it's not at the right time position along the arc.

Hi Zee,

I don't know if anyone in this forum uses manga studio. But it looks like Tokyopop has a forum section for manga studio:

http://messageboard.tokyopop.com/forums/

Maybe someone there will know.

Cheers! :)

Oh, sorry about that. It should be working now. I put up a second test of the grid combined with slowtiger's center of vision approach. I put the perspective lines on a layer immune to camera movements and used that as a reference for creating the angles. http://vimeo.com/9063126 The two approaches ...

I tried out Jahnocli's method and realized that you can throw in some point animation when you pan to simulate 3d. http://vimeo.com/9040137 I just put in a key frame for the first camera position and the last. On the same frames I put in keys for the box according to the grid. Of course, it's easier...

Just checked out your site. Nice animation, and "the black hole incident" was really funny. :)

I noticed that the first clip in your demo reel uses cartoon-y looking rendering. What program did you use for that?

Really nice character and her personality comes through well in the animation!

The part where she touches the book, I couldn't tell what I was looking at at first. I thought you had spliced in an "adult" scene because the book is a similar color to her skirt. :)
