Okay, I just came back from Siggraph, where I saw the "Anime Studio" demo at the e-frontier booth. I have to take back some of what I said about Moho not being able to do traditional, cel-style animation. There was some truly amazing stuff on that reel. Although I still feel that the progr...

Storyboarding is not such a hassle that you would need to spend $800+ on a dedicated program. I've used Flash for storyboards and it worked just fine. I was at Siggraph the other day and went to the Toonboom booth (I also went to the e-frontier booth and got to talk to Mike - cool!). Toonboom was r...

Actually, Sequent, Bauhaus and Mirage have parted company and the program has gone back to its roots in France and back too to its original name "TV Paint" after many years in different guises. Have a look at http://www.tvpaint.com/forum/index.php if you're interested. Jeff Interesting. F...

I guess you'll have to email the guy then. It's a pretty cool little piece of software.

Poser uses the .obj format, and so does Moho, so bringing in Poser models should not be a problem, I think.

You can find both seasons of O'Grady on iTunes, although I'm not sure it's available outside the U.S.

For the record, I worked at the same studio and tried to turn them onto Moho.

Balloons for comics.

Pretty neat. Still needs a few features to make it complete, though.

Found out about this on the Manga Studio forum.

Yes, I figured out what you meant and edited my previous post accordingly. LM has stated many times that Moho was not intended for that sort of animation, although you can use switch layers for doing simple frame-by-frame stuff. So this is sort of like marketing Adobe Illustrator as a 3D program bec...

that's the price you pay using a 2d animation program vs a 3D animation program... the only alternative that makes moving from one view to another is using solo that has tweening between views, then again that's hugely over-priced and thier bone system is bleh... Why are we talking about a 3D anima...

No, but they move with the same amount of freedom in 3D space, especially in the action scenes. Just at a lower frame rate. You still have to redraw the characters many times from many different angles.

Okay, this is what people expect to be able to do with a product called "Anime Studio":

Not that most people would be able to tackle something like this, especially hobbyists. But it's very clear that Moho is not set up for this kind of animation.

The still image and the first animation are great. However, the second animation shows why Moho is not the best tool for creating Anime. Her head doesn't really work in 3D.
