Re: File Saving Bug On MAC

At this point the only way to help would be to have access to the file. Are the backgrounds images? If so it could be the resolution of the image files or even possibly a corrupted image. I have had that problem. An image that was "messed up" was causing AS to crash. Resaving it can help. Make sure ...

Don't know if this will help as I don't have one to test on:

Re: If walking is a controlled fall, y is layer trnslation n

The beginning of that video reminds me of Animation Master "pose blending" and walk cycle on a path. In Animation Master you would design your walk cycle "in place" then a guide would show the stride length for adjustments. YOu could simply apply that character to a path or spline and the character ...

Re: If walking is a controlled fall, y is layer trnslation n

Using physics for realistic "human" walk cycles is impossible. Even the top 3D studios that use physics simulations for armies of Orcs don't use physics for the "secondary" walking or running movent, they animate the movement or use motion capture. Using software physics to simulate walking is going...

Re: About what would you like a webinar?

I have been wanting to do a masking webinar myself. I LOVE masking. That would be a really good one to cover. So many people have trouble with masking. ------ It may be way too much to do in only one hour, but an idea I have been thinking about would be a "start to finish" character design, and rigg...

Re: Getting rid of arrows in middle of workspace

Those arrows indicate the center of the layer and can be important when animating layer movement. You can temporarily turn off ALL path display by clicking the checkbox next to "Display Quality" drop down bottom right of the preview window. I will do this when previewing animation and don't want any...

Re: Lip sync: Switch layers vs Smart Bones

To interpolate between switch layers you have to just check the box in the the Switch panel in the Layers setting dialog box, but how do you adjust the interpolation in the motion graph? As far as I can tell, you can't. Am I correct? If not, can some tell me how to do it because I can't figure it o...

Re: Pirate Girl Rig Question

Just a guess without in depth exploration...

There two smart bones; "B19" and "B15" that appear to control the legs "spread" of the dress bones that simulates collision detection. You need to "show all bones" to see these bones and all the other bones involved that are keyed in the actions.

Re: File Saving Bug On MAC

Is there an error or just a crash? It would help to know what happens when you "can't open" the file. If there is an error during a save and the file is damaged in some way, opening the file again would show some sort of error, like a line number reference in the file. If after saving and opening An...

Re: Animation Pixels!

This looks like compression artifacts. When you export the animation what codec or compression are you using? I would suggest not using ANY compression. Use the PNG codec. Also in your animation is there a lot of "fast" movement and color changes? If you have a high compression setting with lots of ...

Re: an attempt at psychedelic transitioning / dancing

Oh for goodness' sake... as if I don't have enough trouble sleeping at night as it is! Very creepy and mind altering. :) p.s. Had a rough weekend. The scene in your animation of the "dumpster" morphing and twisting reminds me of an idea inspired by my really awful weekend. We had some issues with so...

Re: Shaking images...

Sounds like you have a noisy key frame somewhere.

A noisy keyframe interpolation of say, the layer position, would cause it to appear "shaky" or not stop moving. Check the time line channels for a key frame that shouldn't be there or is set to noisy interpolation.

Re: drawing hair, above or beside head?

are the photos still available...Or is it top secret still? I updated the broken image link and the video. This is a really old project but the concept of the hair shifting in 3D space is still sound although there could be better ways to do it. In response to the very very old question above about...

Re: problems with layers

Usually that "tail" bone you described is a "root" bone that is the single top parent bone in the chain of all the bones. You need to translate this bone (not rotate). If your character was created with a root bone it would usually be the pelvis bone. You need to TRANSLATE that bone with the Transfo...

Re: problems with layers

When you place a layer inside a group layer, it will "pick up" the same layer scale and rotation of that group layer. If the group layer is scaled up then you put a layer inside, that layer will scale up the same amount. Also the position of layers inside a group will also "offset" based on the posi...
