Re: "The Ocean" animated music video

If you by any chance find yourself becoming batman, I call dibs on being your joker. I'll let you know as soon as possible. Thank you! Even though we may be polar opposites, I'm still in awe of your animation style--it's quite unlike anything I've seen before, and it's entirely unique to you....

Re: "The Ocean" animated music video

I apologize to your friend because I watched this with the sound off. However, your animations are sooooooo good that I still watched the whole thing. You have always impressed me but this time you've done things that I didn't even know was possible in anime studio. Was this all done in anime studi...

"The Ocean" animated music video

A high school friend of mine spent months writing his own album. I offered to make an animated music video for one of his songs; so I did. 13qjg5h8B5I The main character rig is not my best work... for the head rotation smart bone action, I wanted to try literally rotating the vector layers (each lay...

Masks failing in previews and exports

Here's a preview of my character with all of his masks failing; the irises, teeth, face, chin, and shading are clearly amiss. http://i61.tinypic.com/ma8oys.png This happens more often than it should. Restarting the software usually does the fix, but, as of right now, these masks are consistently fai...

Re: Duet - Glen Keane's new animated short

That's what I was thinking... the gyroscope-parallax technology for mobile devices. At 4:18, of the video, you can see that the frames were warped in the 3D space to make, what appears to be, part of a panorama with a parallax. Now it all makes sense.

Re: Duet - Glen Keane's new animated short

Here's the "making of." FySfMOYhtU0 Glen Keane's a god; he, all by himself, hand-drew the entire thing in 60 FPS! We're going to have to wait for an official release before we can actually appreciate the frame rate though. "This gives you 60 more possible images to describe an action ...

Duet - Glen Keane's new animated short

Glen Keane has always been my favorite animator. When he left Disney, I was worried that we'd never see anything from him again. But now I'm relieved to know that he's still creating wonders outside of Disney!

In that case, I should probably avoid using strong lens flares too much...

Re: Lens Flare Test

@slowtiger Thanks for the tips. I made a few fixes.

@Danimal It's still on the "over-powering" side, but that's what I was going for in this particular sequence.

Lens Flare Test

J.J. Abrams inspired... XP

I'm mostly satisfied with the lens flare (I'll have the flares' opacity fade gradually, next time), but not so much with the random jumpiness of the surface's perimeter; I probably placed the surface too close to the camera. That should be an easy fix.

Re: Going to college with an art scholarship + Questions

Congratulations and good luck! I've got an art degree, and that has proved useful on a number of occasions, career-wise. Was it entirely necessary? That's a really hard question to answer. Many extremely successful businessmen dropped out of college, and I've taught students with art degrees that f...

Going to college with an art scholarship + Questions

This is exciting! My graphics design teacher had recommended me for a city art scholarship; for my work sample, I submitted my 2013 animation demo reel: 5BafPzmvHes I was notified that I was one of three recipients for the $1,000 scholarship! The crazy thing about all this: I'm not enrolling into an...

@eric1223 Thank you.

@exil I'll upload something when I have the time.
And thank you; animation has taken over my life, even in my younger age. So, I really appreciate your kind words.
